Job Description
As a Public Affairs Senior Advisor, you will lead CVS Health's Government affairs’ efforts, partnering closely with corporate communications for the public-facing activities of the Government Affairs team(state, federal and policy). You will have primary responsibility for communications with policy-makers, amplifying the company's policy goals to elected officials while utilizing multiple communication pathways and platforms.

You will work closely with a broad range of internal partners throughout the organization. You will operate in a dynamic, deadline driven environment, as well as handle multiple projects at once. This will include working with lobbying and policy teams to distill legislation and regulatory policy, synthesizing for internal and external audiences, and developing materials to support public responses or rollouts.

This position will be located in Washington, DC.

Duties& Responsibilities:
-Advancing and integrating government and public affairs efforts with the corporate communications strategy and business priorities.

Developing and distributing external emails, communications, announcements, and Q&A’s for elected official and policy audiences.

Governing internal and external communication to ensure messaging consistency.

Understanding the legislative process and leveraging CVS Health communications to support the company’s public policy goals.

Serving as the primary liaison between Corporate Communications and Government Affairs.

Coordinating government affairs participation in company announcements.

Establishing strategies to strengthen relationships with policy organizations and audiences.

Developing content for internal employee communications and engagement.
-
Quickly learning and staying abreast on internal dynamics, positions, and messaging, along with the relevant external environment.

Understanding complex issues and describing them for audiences with varying levels of subject matter expertise.

Required Qualifications
-8+ years of experience that includes working with communications or public affairs in a trade association or corporation and/or experience in a communications role in a Congressional office or advocacy/political environment.

Ability to travel up to 20% of the time, as needed, per business needs.

Preferred Qualifications
-Highly-matrixed, large corporate organization experience.
-
Healthcare issue knowledge, including pharmacy, public programs like Medicare and Medicaid, and health information technology.

Experience as a communications lead working in a dynamic environment and a track record of success regarding advancing proactive and reactive positions.

An understanding of the legislative process and knowledge of Congress and Executive Branch activities and functions.

Ability to work well in a team environment.
-
Ability to quickly flex to late breaking priorities.
-
Proven ability to effectively communicate directly with senior members of an organization.
-
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
-
Demonstrable analytical and organizational skills.

Education
Bachelor's Degree required.
