Job Summary:

The Public Relations Manager is responsible for supporting the national public relations director in the development of PR plans, strategies and deliverables to support the firm’s objectives by continuously striving to raise awareness of the RSM brand in a positive manner with media and other important external and internal audiences. The PR manager must manage the schedule, budget and quality of ongoing, complex PR projects, and apply broad project management principles and concepts to projects, manage relationships with external stakeholders and partners, and contribute to innovation of new concepts and ideas and continuous process improvement.

 

Essential Duties: 

  • Support the national PR director in managing multiple projects and stakeholder relationships (including media representatives, PR agency professionals, etc.) to assure business needs are met, projects are delivered on time, and potential risks are managed, particularly with external audiences.

  • Create and execute PR plans and manage project scope, goals, budget, schedule, resources, and deliverables that support business goals.  Revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.

  • Support the national PR director in managing the firm’s reputation, including addressing risks/issues as appropriate.  Recognize and determine appropriate proactive and reactive actions needed to protect and enhance the firm’s brand.

  • Manage PR Projects to identify, evaluate, scope, plan, monitor, follow up and improve.

  • Monitor, track and measure PR coverage of RSM on an ongoing basis.  Develop quarterly measurement reports, weekly media updates and other reports to ensure awareness of progress, opportunities to cross-promote positive coverage and opportunities where improvement might be needed.  Share updates appropriately.

  • Other duties as assigned. 

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business related area or equivalent experience  

Experience: 

  • 5+ years relevant experience

  • Experience managing multiple projects of moderate to high risk

  • Experience working with the media

  • Experience managing projects or programs that involve significant partners outside of the organization

  • Experience working with communications teams on public-facing projects is a plus 

Technical/Soft Skills: 

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Effective organization and time management skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks

  • Strong attention to detail  

Leadership Skills: 

  • Ability to supervise, direct, and review the results of projects or assignments

  • Ability to support, affect, and implement change

  • Strong stakeholder management skills
