Customers always want higher availability, more bandwidth, greater network security, less network latency, less network jitter, and lower overall cost. We are the team that designs, builds and operates Oracle's Cloud networks. We are looking for a Principal Engineer who will lead the qualification of networking products and software for Oracle Public Cloud's Datacenter, Internet, Optical and Backbone networks. You should be comfortable at authoring test strategies and plans for massively scaled networks, the network operating system, switch hardware and optics. Prior experience with development of test automation software is a plus. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn. Your excellent judgment and strong communication skills will be invaluable when defining the roadmap for your areas of ownership.

Mandatory Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of work experience or Master's degree plus 5 years of work experience, in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field

2 years of experience with at least one programming or scripting language such as python, perl, Java or C/C

Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills

Excellent judgment to influence product roadmap direction, features, and priorities

Preferred Qualifications:

Understanding of routing protocols like BGP, ISIS, OSPF

Understanding of commodity Ethernet hardware (Broadcom/Mellanox)

Experience developing test automation infrastructure

Experience developing infrastructure for Cloud environments.

Position is located in the Oracle Cloud Development Center Seattle, Washington.
Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
