Role Summary:

GE Digital is looking for an experienced QA Engineer to work on a number of exciting projects that will have a very positive impact on GE's business.

Essential Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

+ Write and Execute Behavior Driven Development (BDD) Scenarios using JBehave

+ Write, Review and Execute Java code to support BDD Scenarios

+ Break down problems and estimates time for quality related tasks

+ Demonstrate increasing expertise in application domain and functional areas

+ Apply various testing types and methodologies effectively during SDLC

+ Take ownership of tasks and deliver without supervision while using their discretion to seek help when necessary

+ Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques

+ Work independently and delivers testing and use case creation which meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project

+ Write effective tests according to best practices so that crucial functional requirements are verified and tests remain valid when code is refactored

+ Works with fellow team members to diagnose bugs and formulate solutions. Demonstrates the ability to understand, debug and contribute to code base.

+ Demonstrates the ability to drive team change for the betterment of the product quality.

+ Provides expertise in the quality engineering, test planning and testing methodology for a software project. Collaborate with Quality Leaders in creating test plans

+ Implement and configures testing tools

+ Implement system-level integration testing

Qualifications/Requirements: Basic Qualifications:

+ Master's Degree in Computer Science or in "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and 2 years of professional experience or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or in "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math and a minimum of 5 years of professional experience

+ A minimum of 2 years of experience validating simulation and medical based software Eligibility Requirements:

+ Experience with Behavior Driven Development and JBehave

+ Experience writing and executing Java methods

+ Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE may agree to sponsor an individual for an employment visa now or in the future if there is a shortage of individuals with particular skills.

+ Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen

+ Must be willing to work out of an office located in Barrington, IL

Desired Characteristics: Technical Expertise:

+ Experience in test automation

+ Demonstrated experience and ability to write Java code for the purposes of testing solution code Experience testing web services (SOAP/REST; Throughput, Performance under Load, etc.)

+ Experience with issue-tracking and agile project management systems such as Jira, GreenHopper, Confluence, Rally, etc.

+ Experience working with virtual machines (VMs) as part of a test/integration infrastructureBusiness Acumen:

+ Skilled in breaking down problems, documenting problem statements and estimating efforts

+ Has the ability to analyze impact of technology choices Leadership:

+ Ability to take ownership of large and medium sized tasks

+ Identifies misalignments with goals, objectives, and work direction against the organizational strategy. Makes suggestions to course correct

+ Continuously measures deliverables of self and team against scheduled commitments. Effectively balances different, competing objectives Personal Attributes:
