Sets-up and conducts routine testing and/or inspection to insure parts and finished products meet established specifications. Supports all activities which verify parts and finished products are produced within the engineering specifications and characteristics. Supports management and quality engineering in assigned activities related to verifying the quality of parts and products, including New Product Introduction and specially assigned projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
¿ Test or inspect materials, parts, sub-assemblies or finished products in an accurate and timely manner, to insure conformance to established engineering and quality specifications. Operate appropriate test equipment, devices, fixtures and tools using existing procedures and methods.
¿ Perform routine set-up, testing and repair for required testing and inspection equipment, tools and gages.
¿ Communicate quality issues to supervision and quality engineering; utilize the non-conformance system as appropriate.
¿ Collect, file, and maintain test data; report test and inspection data in various formats, (Oracle, Excel, Access and Northwest analytical, etc.).
¿ Other duties as assigned.
¿ Requires High School diploma or equivalent and 1 year related experience in one or more of the following areas: machine shop, mechanical assembly, optical assembly, and/or optical systems and components.
¿ An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
¿ Good written and verbal communication skills required.
¿ Working knowledge of Microsoft computer software products (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) required.
¿ Previous experience and use of software applications for effective testing, analysis, ERP/MRP and test report generation preferred.
Work requires ability to operate laboratory and testing equipment, mechanical and computerized tools, and specialized equipment, (i.e. impact tester, fixtures, etc.). Required to stand for long periods of time, walk, reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Regular exposure to noise and a manufacturing environment. Regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 35 pounds, subject to company health and safety guidelines. May be required to lift and/or carry objects exceeding 35 pounds with assistance and subject to company health and safety guidelines.
