We are seeking a Software Quality Engineer to join the Growth Hacking Innovation, the team responsible for developing and deploying growth hacking for new user growth across eBay’s global user experience on web and mobile. The landscape of hacks for growth has no bounds - social, viral, visual, data driven, UX, AI and ML to name a few – and you will be part of key innovations to drive growth through product optimizations, viral hooks, invite flows, and features.  In addition, the team will test and evolve industry best practices for growth hacking. 

You will be involved in all aspects of the project lifecycle, from ideation through requirements analysis, design and implementation. You are expected to be a self-starter and team player, and a strong driver for results and continuous improvement.  You will be responsible for owning quality engineering for this newly formed team where you will be the specialist in the team, facilitating a testing mindset during design and story breakdown as well as testing strategy and providing guidance and coaching.

Responsibilities:

  • Define overall test strategy for the eBay Assistant platform
  • Estimate testing effort, prioritize projects, plan implementations and help rollout changes
  • Define automation strategy and ensure testability
  • Write best in class code to automate testing for your assigned feature areas
  • Develop deep understanding of the product, engineering processes, tools and concepts in order to effectively narrow down defects. Ability to not only find a defect but also to narrow it down to the root cause
  • Identify process, technology challenges and deficiencies that need to be addressed and drive those changes to successful adoption
  • Identify project risks, dependencies and be able to provide alternatives yielding reduced risk

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in Computer Science or related field plus 6 years work experience or MS plus 4 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with testing tools and test frameworks development.
  • Demonstrates an exceptional customer focus, ensures that provided solutions accurately reflect the real needs and uses of the end users
  • Strong knowledge of Java, JS, CSS, HTML, Python
  • Strong knowledge of end-to-end web application flows and tiers
  • Strong knowledge of Java application development and testing, also Python experience
  • Linux would be a plus
