Eaton’s Transportation, Military and Aerospace Division is seeking a Quality/OPEX Manager.
 
The Quality/OPEX Manager will be based at our Camarillo, CA facility. 
 
Position Overview:
This position will serve in CPD Transportation, Aerospace, & Military Division business unit that specializes in the design and manufacturing of Power Conversion, Distribution and Control products for Transportation, Aerospace, Military, and other transportation markets requiring custom OEM solutions for high reliability in harsh environments. This position is responsible for leading the definition, execution, and deployment of the strategic Quality Plan in conjunction with the plant leadership team. 
The Quality/OPEX Manager manages the establishment and administration of a plant wide Quality Management System including Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and continuous improvement.  This position also includes development and administration of product warranty programs and field upgrades for all plant products to provide an excellent customer experience. The Quality/OPEX Manager is responsible to formulate, implement and administer Eaton’s Quality Management System (EQS) and strategic initiatives to achieve short and long range quality improvement objectives. This position supports and leads the quality effort for the Transportation, Aerospace, & Military business unit, including new product development projects and strategic growth initiatives. This position is responsible for driving the quality function at the plant in the effort to develop, implement, and maintain quality systems which meet/exceed customer requirements.
The Quality/OPEX Manager will also provide overall management of the Operational Excellence function by driving business metrics through lean implementation.  S/he will be responsible, for warranty and customer quality, new product QA through PROLaunch and quality systems, and EBS, ELSS implementation.  In addition, this role supports initiatives as the BSC, EBEA, and Cost out.  This position also serves as the ISO 9001 Management Representative for Camarillo, CA.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • To plan and manage the effective operation of the Quality Assurance and OPEX functions within the Camarillo Plant, and to ensure that quality objectives and goals are clearly established and deployed in order to continuously improve and exceed the customer service levels required.
  • Drives the Camarillo plant team to plan, organize and execute Internal Quality Audits and management reviews to maintain compliance to documented quality systems including ISO/TS16949, ISO9001 and ISO14000 standards.
  • Responsible for the reduction of internal & external customer PPM. Leads the supplier quality organization in ensuring effective resolution of supplier quality issues and in the supplier’s development as improved suppliers to Eaton. Leads the RMA process for in and out of warranty returns.
  • Lead problem solving efforts using 8-D methodology. Leads team to complete failure analysis investigations and resolve customer complaints using best practice problem solving methodologies (E.g. 5-Why, Cause & Effect Diagrams, 8D, Drill Deep Drill Wide, etc.). Represents Eaton in presenting performance and improvement plans with customers.
  • Ensures effective implementation and qualification of design and manufacturing processes using PPAP submissions.
  • Support new product development and industrialization. Provide leadership and training to the team to execute the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) elements of the ProLaunch process. Lead “functional reviews” of NPD projects to ensure the quality of APQP deliverables in meeting quality objectives. Participates on key NPD projects as a QA functional representative.
  • Improves suppliers in APQP processes, quality and delivery performance.  Key focus areas will be PCB and electronic manufacturing and key components.
  • Responsible for SPC, MSA, Instrument Calibration, Gauge and Master Design & Calibration.
  • Drive and maintain an atmosphere for Continuous Improvement and Error Proofing through the implementation of six sigma/lean production methodology in order to accomplish goals.
  • Implements Eaton Lean System (Lean Manufacturing) techniques as required.  Drives Operational Assessment (OpA) activities and improvements for the plant operations.
  • Implement, monitor and train on ELS tools.  Creates action plans and follow-up on work assignments based on these activities.  Updates Lean tracker and responsible for completion of planned kaizen events.
  • Direct cross-functional teams to eliminate roadblocks and communication barriers that may affect quality and customer requirements.  Work closely with all functional areas and delegates responsibilities and accountabilities to the functional areas that aid in achieving quality goals.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a quality role in a manufacturing environment
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident   (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of problem solving techniques, execution and leadership
  • Quality Systems Management, detailed knowledge of ISO 9000 and ISO14001, working knowledge of AIAG standards including APQP and PPAP
  • Working knowledge in problem solving tools and skills (i.e. Fishbone Diagrams, 5-Whys, 8D, Gage R&R, FMEA , SPC, etc.)
  • Six Sigma certified
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
  • The individual must understand the manufacturing processes and be able to interface in a positive manner with management and team members of all levels to achieve the organization’s objectives. A strong knowledge of ISO requirements and Transportation, Aerospace, & Military industry standards is necessary.
  • The individual must balance the needs of customers’ quality requirements against design and cost considerations to maintain a quality level satisfactory to all end users. Suggestions as to design changes, material changes and manufacturing processes are required to achieve this balance.
