Current Need

The Software Test Engineer is accountable to work on projects in an Agile (Lean Kanban) environment.  This Software Test Engineer will work closely with the project team and Requirements Management to assure the quality of the software. 

Position Description

Automation Support.  Develops and maintains automated test suites through a variety of tools, including FitNesse and  Selenium WebDriver api.  Hands-on coding primarily in C# to expand the automation framework in support of team and overall automation/regression strategy.  Creates and maintains efficient test scripts that interface with automation framework. Mentors other Test Engineers to spread adoption of automation strategy and best practices throughout the team.  Interacts with developers to provide rapid and continuous feedback in support of feature development.
Test Execution.  Executes tests (automated and manual) and performs testing tasks along with team in an agile test driven development process to ensure all acceptance criteria are satisfied.  Designs and creates data sets consistent with test specifications and test procedures. 
Project Team Responsibilities.  Participates in test planning for all levels of project testing including usability, integration, system, performance, and user acceptance.  Key participant in core project meetings (e.g., release/project planning, planning/review/retrospective) as well as the creation of estimates, test plans, checklists and schedules to manage the release as appropriate.  Attends all daily stand-ups and communicates risks/impediments to project schedule or quality.  Drives the triage process for issues logged when system is under test along with the ability to perform defect analysis and root cause.  Ensures QA deliverables are on-time and meet quality goals.
Requirements traceability.  Participates in business, user story and detailed functional requirements workgroups and design sessions.  Ensures appropriate feedback is provided to Requirements Management for development of requirements that are testable. Ensures complete test coverage of requirements by creating and maintaining appropriate methods of traceability. 
Process Improvement.  Identifies opportunities for improving quality and efficiency and participates in process improvement initiatives.



Minimum Requirements
6+ years experience in software and/or program testing.

Critical Skills

Proficiency in all types of software testing with a focus on test automation.
Previous experience as a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDE/T)


Additional Knowledge & Skills
Hands-on coding skills and a background in C# and/or .NET development strongly desired.

Experience working in an Agile Scrum or LEAN team practicing test-driven development desired.

Experience creating APIs, test harnesses or test automation strongly desired.

Proficient knowledge of Oracle database design and experience with SQL desired.

Understanding of XML and a history working with transaction processing systems desired.

Experience with TDD automation tools a plus.

Experience with Jira Studio for defect and requirements management a plus.

Experience with Continuous Integration tools (TeamCity preferred) a plus.

Experience with scripting languages (e.g.Powershell) a plus.

Be a champion for quality in all stages of the SDLC to ensure the product works as intended and represents the business functionality envisioned.

Analyze complex problems using appropriate methods and techniques.  Apply good judgment when weighing options and assessing risk to propose solutions and drive issues to resolution.

Excellent organizational and time management skills. 

Interact effectively with team members in and outside of QA, customers and all levels of management.  

Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with all levels throughout the organization. 

Ability to learn new technologies and platforms using self-directed techniques and training materials provided.  Can formulate and execute own exercises to master applications and prepare diagnostic questions to leverage time of subject matter experts. 

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to significant amounts of change in work assignments and priorities.

4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience
