R&D Integration Lead

Primary Role:
Provides advice, leadership and oversight for the planning and execution of R&D related integration activities associated with acquisitions. Leads cross-functional teams that drive the implementation of R&D integrations. Serves as a trusted advisor to the R&D function leaders and their staff and works collaboratively with the business to implement efficient integration approaches. Acts as the primary link between R&D and the corporate Integration Management Office and works to ensure R&D alignment with Shire's overall integration goals.

Responsibilities:
80%: R&D Integration Project Management
• Leads cross-functional R&D integration project teams (with representatives from R&D functions such as Research, Clinical Development, Regulatory, etc.) and works collaboratively with R&D function leaders/key staff to assess, plan, execute and report on integration activities. Defines project scopes, identifies resource requirements, articulates deliverables, develops timelines, characterizes interdependencies and generates communication plans for R&D integration projects. Proactively identifies risks/roadblocks to successfully completing integrations. Facilitates the build out of transition plans, mitigation activities and contingency plans to address identified risks. Collaborates with R&D Finance and Functions to plan for synergy achievement and associated budget to achieve synergies. Supports rollout of synergy and budget tracking tools / templates, and works with R&D Finance and Functions to collect, refine and consolidate synergy/budget data for executive reporting. Monitors readiness activities in advance of transition events, and defines mitigation activities and develops contingency plans as needed.

10%: R&D Integration Alignment
• Coordinates with the Integration Management Office (IMO) to ensure R&D integration activities are aligned with Shire's overall integration goals and supports achievement of integration critical success factors.

10%: Pre-Integration Planning and Post-Integration Resolution
• Responsible for ongoing refinement and delivery of the methods and tools to be used by the R&D integration teams in pre-integration planning and post-acquisition integration activities.

Education & Experience Requirements:
Essential: Bachelor's Degree with seven years acquisition integration related experience with at least three years of experience in a leadership role. Demonstrated ability to assess, plan and execute acquisition integrations.

Desired: Advanced medical / biological sciences degree (PhD or MD) or MBA from an accredited program preferred. Top-tier management consulting experience a plus. Experience in the Biotech / Pharmaceutical sector preferred.

Other Job Requirements:
Occasional travel may be required.
