The Wrist Wearables team is looking for an R&D Prototype Engineer and all-around Maker to play an integral role in supporting our ongoing work. This role will design and create prototype hardware and firmware systems that evaluate new technologies and further wearable product research. As a growing organization, we are looking for highly motivated and talented candidates to work with us as we drive the success of Intel wearables.
-Design and develop prototype and proof of concept systems that include elements of mechanical, electrical, and embedded software systems
-Collaborate with other R&D and engineering personnel
-Electrical design and schematic capture for concept systems
-PCB layout and gerber design of concept systems
-Source and evaluate mechanical housings and components for concept systems
-Collaborate with, and oversee work of, external vendors towards the production of prototype components
-Assemble and test prototype systems
-Document systems, help to plan evaluations, and train R&D personnel on system use
-Troubleshoot and maintain the systems
-BS / MS in computer science, electrical engineering, robotics, or equivalent field with 2 years of experience
-Self-starter & good communicator. Passionate about technology and creativity.
-Experience with the design and troubleshooting of digital and analog electrical circuits
-Experience writing and troubleshooting embedded systems and firmware
-Experience with open hardware and open source projects
-Experience with rapid prototyping techniques including 3D printing, SLA, & SLS
-Experience with 3D CAD software a plus
-5 Years of relevant industry experience.
