POSITION SUMMARY: The Radiation Oncology Therapist performs and delivers a physician -prescribed radiation therapy treatment to patients, calculates proper machine settings, assists the physicians with patient care, assists with the preparation and process of special procedures such as IMRT, simulations, field modifications of devices. The therapist provides patient care information and evaluation of patient's physical and psychological status. The therapist must know and utilize radiation safety techniques. Fulfills on-call duties.
Current ARRT certification or registry eligible
Current BLS certification
Graduate of AMA approved school of Radiation Therapy Technology.
Previous experience in Radiation Oncology is preferred.
Must have strong communication skills in order to communicate with staff, patients and physicians. Must be able to demonstrate strong technical skills needed for daily patient treatments. Must be able to perform simulation procedures, cerrobend block design and daily treatments with minimal supervision.
Degree of Supervision Required:
Minimal supervision: Individual proceeds on his/her own initiative in compliance with policies, procedures and practices prescribed by immediate supervisor.
