This unit has transition from nursery to couplet care. The couplet care unit is a 22-bed unit caring for mothers and babies.
This position, under the supervision of the Manager or Charge Nurse coordinates and provides patient care. This care includes conducting initial and ongoing assessment of the patient and family, development of an individualized patient care plan, family centered patient teaching, the identification of and correction of variances from the patient care plan and the facilitation of discharge planning and teaching. Patient census consists of healthy newborns. May be asked to assist with circumcision, to attend vaginal delivery of high risk patients and cesarean sections. Staffing ratios are in accordance with AWHONN guidelines.
Required: Graduation from a NLN accredited school of nursing
Preferred: One year experience in acute care setting
Required: Licensed in the state of Texas as RN. Current Certification by the American Heart Association in BLS course C or D provider. On employment or within 6 months of hire, completion of Neonatal Resuscitation program.
Preferred: Certification in area of specialty
