Roles & Responsibilities:
The Infection Control / Employee Health Registered Nurse is trained in hospital epidemiology principles and is responsible for the surveillance, analysis, and reporting of nosocomial infections; educating employees about infection control; and the development of health system policies and procedures to insure rigorous infection control standards that meet JCAHO, OSHA, Public Health Department, and Center for Disease Control requirements. The Infection Control / Employee Health Nurse uses computerized HRIS to track vaccinations/immunizations and communicates with employees using hospital based clinical application software.
EDUCATION - Graduate from an accredited professional nurse program; Bachelors Degree in nursing preferred.
EXPERIENCE - Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience. One (1) year previous experience in acute care preferred; experience with Occupational Health/Employee Health strongly preferred. Knowledge of laws, regulations and standards related to hospital infection control; Previous experience as an Infection Control Nurse preferred.
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE - Current MS or compact state RN license/permit; current BCLS certification; current Certification with the Mississippi Dept. of Health for Tuberculosis Surveillance and Testing required within 6 months of hire; CIC is preferred.
