The Surgical Services/Operating Room Registered Nurse
The staff nurse provides direct nursing care to patients of all ages undergoing surgical intervention with emphasis placed on sterile technique, perioperative nursing care and provision of appropriate equipment.

About this unit:
Surgical Services can be described as a fun, friendly and great team to work with. The unit is engaging and competitive and regularly participates and wins hospital-wide competitions. In addition, Surgical RNs with two years surgical experience are eligible to participate in the HCA initiative "OR of Choice" by providing "complimentary" CNOR Testing (Certified Nurse of the Operating Room). Upon successful completion of the CNOR exam HCA will provide reimbursement for the exam.

Qualifications:
Licensure/Certification/Registration: License- Louisiana, certification-CPR for healthcare provider through AHA upon hire, CNOR preferred.
Education: Graduate from an accredited Nursing program.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years OR experience preferred.
Special Qualifications: Good communication skills both verbal and written; computer skills helpful. Ability to maintain emotional stability in emergency situations. Willingness to float to OR Holding, PACU, and rotate call.
