Role Overview As the release train engineer you will be responsible for planning, managing and governing releases of all NA Services that deliver changes on your assigned release train and have the authority and responsibility to help guide the value streams to meet business goals. You will be responsible for the release governing authority ensuring the most critical governance elements of quality particularly security, regulation and compliance have been appropriately addressed throughout the release lifecycle. You with have the authority and responsibility to foster and improve release frequency, quality and content volumes while enabling all teams to increase their financial delivery efficiency. Candidate Characteristics The successful candidate will be a motivated and highly capable release specialist and an agent of change who can drive consensus between the various stakeholder groups and help drive forward technical delivery capabilities within their release train. Key leadership characteristics: Coaching teams to collaborate Creating an environment of mutual influence Encourage and support the personal development of each individual and team Defining work in terms of objectives rather than deadline Being invested in the work programs overall performance Asking the team for answers Encouraging and enabling the team to self-organize and hit their stride Helping other fix problems rather than fixing them Primary Responsibilities Ensuring the organizations release framework and governance is understood and followed Manage and optimize the flow of value delivered through the release train Establish and communicate the annual calendars for delivery on the release train Communicate release status to external stakeholders Ensuring that releases are scoped appropriately balancing delivery requirements and the capacity of the delivery teams Ensuring that release content commitments are met or exceeded and maximizing the candidate / discretionary content that is delivered with any un-utilized capacity Ensuring that appropriate deployment / distribution plans are in-place Coordinating with Business Relationship Managers, Project Managers and Business Release Managers on internal and external communications Validating that all release content meets relevant quality and governance criteria Running the Inspect and Adapt improvement program to relentlessly drive improvements across the full release delivery lifecycle. Providing final authorization for the implementation or activation of content into production Managing the day-to-day release schedule, including daily progress stand-up, defect resolution, risks and issues Managing the identification, escalation, verification and resolution of clashes, conflicts, issues and risks Escalating to the Executive Release Control Board any unresolvable clashes, conflicts, issues and risks Ensuring the release stays on track, capturing, recording and addressing all release issues Generating and publishing weekly progress reports for the wider organization Working closely with the infrastructure team to schedule environment usage to meet demands of forward schedule of release Capturing and monitoring key performance indicator data to support performance management of the release function and team members Capturing success stories and value add delivered by the release function Publishing key performance indicators, success stories and value add delivered to the wider organization Essential Skills and Experience Experience of successfully effecting enterprise organizational change Experience of IT change management Extensive experience of delivery change within different Software Development Lifecycles and Methodologies Extensive experience of IT Quality Management and software and infrastructure testing practices Project management experience Strong stakeholder management IT Governance experience or background Understanding of business analysis Knowledge of Atlassian, Service Now, Microsoft, HP IBM and Hudson application lifecycle, service management and continuous delivery toolsets Education and Qualification SCRUM Master, PMI PMP, SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) or similar delivery management qualifications TQM, Six Sigma or other appropriate quality management qualification ITIL Foundation or higher Bachelor's degree or higher To Apply: Apply Online by selecting "Apply Now" so your resume will be sent directly to the recruiter.
