The Cognitive Intelligence Augmentation Group at the IBM Almaden Research Center is looking for candidate for a Research Staff Member in cognitive informatics. They would be a contributor to the ongoing work on lexicon expansion, ontology induction, and guided relationship extraction from unstructured text in a wide variety of domains.
Research Staff Member applicants should have a PhD in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science or related fields and should have had work done in exploiting large textual corpora for dictionary expansion and concept extraction. Candidates with background in knowledge representation and reasoning, social and medical text analysis, natural language processing, semantics and ontology induction, or machine learning approaches to analyzing large textual collections are desirable.

The candidates should have demonstrated independent thinking and achievements through publications in top quality conferences and journals. Proven programming in Java/C++, and system skills are desirable.
