Summary:
Provides quality services and/or products while focusing on customer satisfaction and safety.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Services, inspects and installs residential gas and electric appliances and equipment to comply with codes and ensure superior service in terms of safety, reliability, customer satisfaction and monetary value.
Responds to utility related calls for all customers, locates gas leaks at customer's premise, and takes necessary steps to maintain public and personal safety.
Promotes and accepts accountability for providing superior customer satisfaction and selling of Home Service Plus products and services (e.g., Service Plus contracts, options, HSP sales referrals) to customers. Maintains professional working relationships with internal and external customers.
Responds to emergency situations to assure the safe delivery of natural gas and to maintain public and personal safety.
Demonstrates efficient and productive work practices and identifies or recommends and/or incorporates improved methods to increase productivity working within division procedures and guidelines.
Operates and maintains company vehicle in a safe manner, controls parts inventory, and is responsible for tool and equipment condition in order to ensure safe efficient service.
Develops, maintains and demonstrates related skill proficiency based on changes in products and/or technology in order to provide service excellence.


Education:
Requires successful completion of a 1 or 2 year, diploma or associate degree program (minimum 2 semesters or 3 quarters) at an accredited educational institution in heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent technical skills.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, Licenses/Certifications, Abilities & Personal Characteristics (KSLAPs):

Able to meet and maintain performance and attendance criteria for the job.
Able to obtain applicable Journeyman Gasfitter's Certificate of Competency within 18 months of eligibility.
Able to pass a required pre-employment practical appliance service test.
Able to demonstrate working knowledge of control systems, air conditioning, heating and refrigeration equipment.
Able to demonstrate ability to read and understand electric schematics and understanding of electro-mechanical relationships.
Able to demonstrate working knowledge of State of Minnesota heating, ventilation and air conditioning code as applied to gas equipment and gas piping.
Able to possess a Journeyman's Certificate of Competency in areas of refrigeration, steam/hot water, warm air and/or gasfitter.
Able to possess a valid State of Minnesota driver's license and have a safe driving record as determined by the Company.
Able to communicate effectively with other employees, customers and industry representatives.
Able to demonstrate and apply a strong customer focus and deliver superior service.
Able to manage use of time, work independently and demonstrate initiative to accomplish assigned tasks.
Able to use a personal computer or laptop.
Able to comply with company and industry operating safety standards and regulations.
Able to meet Operator Qualification requirements for this position or become qualified within the timeframe established by the Company.
Able to meet all physical requirements, competency-based assessments, pre-employment background checks, pre-employment drug screen and other selection criteria determined by the Company.


Physical Requirements:

Able to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, balance, climb, crawl, reach, stand, walk, pull, lift, use fingers and grasp on a daily basis.
Able to operate a motor vehicle including ability enter and exit the vehicle.
Able to operate a personal computer, either desktop or laptop.
Able to exert up to 75 pounds of force occasionally and minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.


Working Conditions:

Able to work rotating shifts, assigned holidays and overtime when required.
Able to work outdoors with some exposure to all weather conditions.
Able to handle emergency situations including possible exposure to explosive environment.
Able to be included in a random drug screen pool required for DOT safety sensitive positions.
