JOB SUMMARYManages a unit that is responsible for providing loss control services to assigned Personal Lines Insurance customers. Responsible for meeting quality standards by providing technical support services to Underwriting, Claims, Sales and other areas. Implements strategy and vision created by the director and regional leadership team.

RELATIONSHIPReports to Vice President, AVP or Director. Typically 6 to 8 direct reports.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1 Establishes standards for service level agreements (SLAs) production standards and measurements for quality in risk assessment and services. Monitors assignments, productivity, timeliness and quality of work.

2. Provides training, mentoring coaching and feedback to associates in the region. Implements the regional training and development plan. Plans, develops and recommends loss control objectives. Develops and implements with administrative direction, the plans, programs and controls necessary to assure attainment

3. Oversees vendor activity and quality of reports. Answers underwriting questions and provides feedback to vendor with any issues between vendor and underwriter. Conducts vendor ride-alongs.

4. Conducts service file reviews, report reviews and joint visits with direct reports to assure quality of service.

5. Assists Claims and Underwriting with any loss control related issues. Works with claims and underwriting at a manager level.

6. Manages LC utilization. Partners with underwriting management to determine best use of LC resources and survey request activity.

7. Responsible for the management of associates including: performance management, salary planning and administration, training and development, workflow planning, hiring and placement, and disciplinary actions.

8. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTSEducation: BS/BA degree in insurance, business administration, economics/finance or engineering required.

Designations: Attainment of Certified Safety Professional, Associate of Loss Control Management, Associate Safety Professional or Associate in Risk Management desired. Holds licenses/certifications as required by state laws and regulations.

Experience: Minimum of 8 years experience preferred, plus 2 years supervisory or management experience preferably in Underwriting or Loss Control.

Knowledge: Building construction and repair methods, Loss control policies, practices and procedures, insurance coverage and underwriting, claims and related issues.

Skills/ Competencies: Strong relationship, marketing and consulting skills required to interact with underwriting, agents, policy holders and vendors. Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to operate a personal computer and other business equipment, prioritize work, and meet deadlines. JOB CONDITIONSOvertime Eligibility: Not Eligible (exempt)

Working Conditions: May require overnight travel. Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record. Must be able to conduct physical surveys. Must be able to climb, stoop, bend, balance on various heights, crawl and lift up to 50 lbs.
