***** A HIGHER PAY FOR A RN FLOAT POOL POSITION****

Timpanogos Regional Hospital in Utah County offers invaluable expertise gained from delivering exceptional patient care since 1998. We may not be bigger, but we strive to be better as our hospital is dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare. We meet that standard through changes in upgrading technology and advanced procedures. While these changes may be constant, our tradition of caring and healing will never fade. Registered Nurse (RN) Float Pool:

The Float Pool RN is a member of an elite group of direct patient care nurses who provide a flexible staffing resource to nursing units during times of high census or acuity or whenever replacement RNs are needed as a result of PTO, sick calls, staff turnover, coverage for educational trainings, etc. Float Nurses are pre-scheduled to work specific shifts, but must be willing to receive unit and patient assignments on short notice and change assignments at any time as the need arises. Float Nurses portray an enthusiastic, can do attitude, representing the profession of nursing in a positive manner and exemplifying the mission and vision of the hospital as they interact with patients/families, physicians and co-workers. They are a key contributor to the hospitals success through participation in the shared governance model of nursing and serving on committees and project teams as requested.

The Float Nurse uses expert skills to provide clinical nursing care to assigned patients, performing related assessments, procedures and treatments, evaluations, patient care plan development/revisions, and education to patient and/or family. The Float Nurse puts the patient first and ensures that high quality care is given to assigned patients by following policies, clinical guidelines, safety systems such as medication scanning and bed alarm use, timely and accurate documentation, core measure compliance and always being a patient advocate. Makes providing an exceptional patient/family experience high priority.

Float Nurses are initially trained in Medical/Surgical/Orthopedic and Critical Care Unit (CCU) competencies and will primarily float between these two areas. Once solid competency and performance is established in these areas, Float Nurses are expected to expand their competency set to be able to float to Pediatrics, low acuity NICU, Mother/Baby, and other departments as needed, through and ongoing training program determined by the Float pool Director/Manager. Float Nurses will be scheduled to work primarily twelve hour day or night shifts and are required to work their fair share of weekend shifts, usually not more than every other weekend, unless they desire a weekend only schedule. Float Nurses will not be expected to receive any more low census call-off days than RNs in specific departments and will enjoy all the same benefits.
