This position, under the supervision of the Director, coordinates and supervises the patient care team of RNs, PCTs, and other team members assigned. The Supervisor Nursing Unit (SNU) is responsible for: daily operation of the unit(s), supervision and assignment of all patient care team members, follow through on all clinical issues and verbal discipline/ coaching with follow up documentation. The SNU coordinates performance appraisal data gathering, develops and supervises unit participation in quality improvement, assesses staff need for education and provides hands on patient care coaching. The SNU is responsible to meet all, but not to perform on a daily basis, job duties as outlined in the Registered nurse job description, when require by patient or unit needs, as well as those listed in this job description.Qualifications: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
Written and verbal communication skills adequate for performance of the position. Supervisory skill. Works autonomously, sets priorities and makes independent decisions of a complex nature. Interfaces directly with public, physicians, staff, patients, administration, and ancillary departments.
Must be able to demonstrate understanding of national patient safety initiatives by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures as required by both HCA and Round Rock Medical Center. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
Required: Graduation from a NLN accredited school of nursing.
Preferred: A minimum of (1) year experience as a Staff Nurse in related area. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES :
Required: Licensed in the state of Texas as RN
AHA BLS at time of hire
Preferred: Certification in area of specialty. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP :
Reports to: Nursing Unit/ Director
Positions supervised: Professional and non-professional personnel assigned by shift to the unit i.e.: RN, PCT.
