The Market Unit Safety Specialist position is a multi-facility position supporting Distribution / Sales Centers within the Market Unit. The Safety Specialist is responsible for leading and managing associate health, safety, and facility Environmental Management/Compliance within assigned locations and territories of the Market Unit.
This role reports to the Environmental Health and Safety Manager with strong support to the Market Unit leadership team to implement and manage EHS programs. Support process owners, in working areas to ensure facility compliance with applicable Company and regulatory requirement (OSHA, DOT, EPA etc.). This role will provide leadership, guidance and build capability within facilities by striving to minimize accidents, injuries, environmental impact and property damage. The Safety Specialist will coordinate with team and functional partners for continuous improvement. This position supports multiple locations - up to 50% overnight travel may be required.
The Safety Specialist is responsible for, but not limited to the following responsibilities:
•Execution of Coca-Cola Southwest EHS Plan
•Perform EHS Audits within all Market Unit locations as deemed appropriate, reporting results to the leadership team.
•Partner with local leadership to implement corrective actions identified during audits, inspections, incident investigations, etc.
•Coordinate investigations and produce required documentation to assist in determining incident classification, corrective action needed and / or provide support to the Claims Department.
•Regulatory Support to include OSHA, EPA, DOT and others as required.
•Attend and support Safety Committees within the facilities.
•Support Ergonomic improvements and facility based Ergonomic Councils.
•Assist EHS Manager with projects as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
•Bachelors’ Degree required.
•Combination of minimum and preferred experience with some education will be considered.
• 3-5 years Environment, Health and Safety experience or related discipline(s) required.
•Prior Food / Beverage, Manufacturing, DOT, bottling and multi-unit experience preferred.
•Previous consumer products industry preferred.
•Prior work within manufacturing/distribution organization a plus. - Strong PC skills including a high level of proficiency in Word, Excel & PowerPoint
•Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT and Hazardous Material management concepts and techniques
•Ability to train and educate associates at all levels of the organization on EHS, OSHA, and DOT management concepts
•Highly organized with the ability to handle confidential information in a discreet manner.
•Ability to function independently and exercise initiative until activities are complete.
•Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
•Proven analytical and problem solving skills.
•Ability to multitask while simultaneously managing multiple assignments.
