Under general supervision of the corporate Director of Sales/Use Tax, responsible for the preparation of state and local sales tax returns; perform tax research and analysis of complicated sales/use tax laws; provide tax guidance to both internal and external customers; provide assistance with sales and use tax audits, and other special projects as needed.


    Perform extensive tax research and tax analysis of the sales/use tax laws in 45 states and hundreds of locally administered tax jurisdictions. Provide professional tax advice/assistance to the company and customers with respect to the application of complex sales/use tax laws to complex commercial situations for a national company. Responsible for the collection of data from various data points to be used in the tax return preparation process. Analyze tax data for accuracy for use in the filing of the company's sales/use tax returns. Creates and maintains tax work papers utilizing software applications such as Microsoft Excel. Analyze and interpret local business ordinances for decision making regarding whether there is a need for a business license registration or renewal. Research and compiling of tax data needed for audits, general ledger reconciliations, and special projects. Collaborate with other departments to analyze new product data for determination of the proper product category for sales tax purposes. Responsible for maintaining customer exemption certificates and that the proper exempt product categories are set up in the company's tax software in order to maintain compliance with state tax laws. Interface directly with customers on a regular basis to provide customers with technical tax assistance to insure compliance with applicable sales tax laws and regulations including assistance in respect to tax refunds and tax documentation. Performs related tax duties as assigned.

Requires broad training in fields such as accountancy, business administration, or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a four year Bachelor's Degree program, Requires a minimum of two (2) to six (6) years directly related and progressively responsible experience.
