Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opening for a Sarbanes-Oxley- SOX Analyst / Senior Auditor at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

POSITION SUMMARY
In this position, the incumbent will split their time between working with the SOX compliance program and performing internal audits. A description of each activity follows:

SOX Analyst: The position is responsible for supporting the SOX Program Management Office (PMO), tasked with ensuring the company's compliance with SOX requirements regarding internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR). The position provides a broad range of analytical expertise, including assisting the Manager in the planning and execution of the Company's SOX 404 compliance initiative, interpreting changes in the external environment (regulatory, compliance) that impact ICOFR, interfacing with SOX global coordinators and business/process leadership responsible for the design and operating effectiveness of the control, and supporting our KPMG external audit. As a member of the SOX PMO, the position is responsible for maintaining an effective compliance program by ensuring that the essential program tenets are in place including: program definition and scope, internal controls risk ranking, quality control over SOX process narratives and control matrices, stewardship over remediation methodology to ensure internal controls are properly designed and evaluated, and development of an effective testing tool and reporting capability to meet requirements of the SOX legislation for internal (management) as well as external needs. To be effective in the role the incumbent must build key relationships with various business and process leaders for which they interface.

Senior Internal Auditor: The senior internal auditor is responsible for performing individual internal audit projects, as part of the total internal audit plan. This responsibility includes developing internal audit scope, performing internal audit procedures, and preparing internal audit reports reflecting the results of the work performed. Work performed will include coverage of functional and operating units and focusing on financial, IT, and operational processes. Additionally, the senior auditor performs follow-up on the status of outstanding internal audit issues. The senior internal auditor will also assist internal audit management with periodic reporting to the audit committee, development of the annual internal audit plan, and championing internal control and corporate governance concepts throughout the business. The senior internal auditor may also direct and review the work performed by other internal audit personnel, including resources from the co-sourcing firm.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Undergraduate degree
  • Understanding of internal control concepts and experience in applying them to plan, perform, manage and report on the evaluation of various business processes/areas/functions
  • Ability to work independently, with limited required direction and guidance, and provide appropriate direction to other internal audit project team members
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, to effectively present to peers and management
  • Exhibit the leadership skills needed to sell ideas and obtain management buy-in for constructive change
  • Understanding of internal auditing standards, COSO and risk assessment practices
  • Understanding of the technical aspects of accounting and financial reporting
  • Experience in performing multiple projects and working with varying team members
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Undergraduate degree in accounting/finance
  • CPA/CIA designation
  • 5+ years of public accounting and/or private industry experience with knowledge of accounting, finance and internal control areas
  • Prior industry experience is a plus
