This position reports to the Hematology-Oncology Regional Medical Liaisons (RML) Therapeutic Area (TA) Head and is based in the Thousand Oaks office. Under the direction of the Hematology-Oncology RML TA Head, the major responsibility of this position will be National oversight of Hematology-Oncology marketed products and pipeline molecules. Utilizing functional subject matter expertise and product knowledge, the Sr. Manager will closely collaborate with the RML TA Head to advance the organization's strategies and goals.
Assist in developing annual RML Scientific Engagement Plan (SEP) and directing appropriate execution of SEP-specific strategies and tactics to maintain compliance and obtain team goals.
Lead and participate in cross-functional team efforts with the US Medical Teams, RML Field Directors, RML Operations, Global Scientific Communications, Global and US Marketing, and Global Therapeutic Knowledge & Training Development.
Lead field input team(s) to inform team training strategies and develop RML resources in collaboration with Global Therapeutic Knowledge & Training Development and Global Scientific Communications teams for Hematology-Oncology products and pipeline molecules. Liaise with the RML management team to ensure proper development and utilization of the field RML resources.
Assist in providing required reports to the Hematology-Oncology RML TA Head, US Medical Leads, and Global Scientific Affairs and RML Department senior staff documenting quantitative and qualitative metrics.
Influence the analysis, design, and construction of implementation plans of overall objectives and long-range goals for the RML department with respect to Hematology-Oncology products and pipeline molecules.
Lead and/or participate on committees or project teams that support RML strategies and tactics as delegated by RML leadership. May lead administrative team activities such as budgets, RML resources, National team calls, and/or lead projects for ALIGN (CRM database) to ensure cross-TA RML alignment.
Under direction of RML TA Head, set strategic role for Hematology-Oncology RMLs at scientific and medical congress meetings.
Seek out opportunities to advance the RML value proposition, achieve results and set an example for others to follow by consistently demonstrating Amgen values and leadership attributes. Demonstrate tact and professionalism when communicating and interacting with others.
Conduct presentations and briefings for senior management; may represent the department or Amgen as a primary internal and external contact.
Liaise with Global and US Commercial Teams, as appropriate.
Assist in the customization of the RML SharePoint site to ensure ready access to RML resources that maximize RML efficiency.
Oversee and conduct projects with vendors to develop Opinion Leader (OL) lists, help modify current OL lists, or execute TA Landscape and RML effectiveness surveys.
Basic Qualifications
Doctorate degree and 2 years of clinical experience
OR
Master's degree and 6 years of clinical experience
OR
Bachelor's degree and 8 years of clinical experience
OR
Associate's degree and 10 years of clinical experience
OR
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Clinical experience
Preferred Qualifications
PharmD, PhD, MD or DO in a medical field
3 + years of experience in a medically-related field, including 1+ years focused on clinical practice, clinical research, or medical research
Hematology and/or Oncology therapeutic area expertise
2+ years of experience leading/managing project teams
Previous RML/MSL industry experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical company
Current experience in Scientific Affairs or Medical Affairs at a biotech or pharmaceutical company
