The Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson conducts research and development in a variety of therapeutic areas to discover novel therapeutic approaches to unmet medical conditions. Research and development areas presently include Neuroscience, and Immunology. Our La Jolla, California, site is looking for motivated and enthusiastic individuals in the area of Medicinal Chemistry.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and synthesis of potential drug candidate molecules directed towards the discovery of medicines to treat neuropsychiatric diseases – especially disorders of mood and cognition. The work will require state of the art synthetic organic chemistry skills and analytical chemistry techniques. She/he will maintain a close interaction with the computer assisted design group, biologists and pharmaceutical development scientists. The individual will be expected to remain conversant with the modern chemical literature and to maintain a strong laboratory presence. Strong people skills and the ability to thrive in a team and goal driven environment are key attributes.
• A minimum of a PhD in organic chemistry with 0-3 years postdoctoral experience is required.
• Experience with synthetic organic chemistry is required.
• Experience with medicinal chemistry is preferred.
• This position will be based in La Jolla, CA.
