Main duties and responsibilities:
MedImmune is seeking a versatile pulmonary biologist with immunology experience to support research efforts in the areas of airway/pulmonary biologics drug development and delivery. The candidate will be part of a growing cross functional effort to identify novel in vivo biologics expression and pulmonary delivery approaches to combat respiratory diseases.
Essential Requirements:
This position will be a lab-based, hands-on research position. The candidate should have a good understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying respiratory diseases, such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Asthma and respiratory tract infection. The appropriate candidate should have strong experience in specialized research area related to pulmonary biology using techniques such as air liquid interface or more complex primary epithelial co-culture systems, in vivo models of lung damage, chronic inflammation or infection of lung, and immunological assays (e.g ELISA, flow cytometry, and immunohistochemistry). Knowledge of formulation and oral drug delivery systems would be a plus.
The candidate will be expected to have strong motivation, attention to detail, ability to conduct high quality research, deal with complex scientific/biologic concepts and solve complex problems independently.  He/She has proven record to effectively plan and organize work activities and prioritize task completion in a timely fashion. The candidate needs to have excellent written, verbal and presentations skills.
PhD with extensive experience in lung epithelial biology, immunology, or related bio-sciences. Candidates with 3+ years of post-degree relevant experience are preferred.
Additional notes: This position will require an innovative researcher with solid technical skills. The candidate should have demonstrated problem solving skills and versatile research abilities. Prior experience working in the collaboration or in a multidisciplinary matrix environment is desirable.
