The department of PKDM within Amgen is dedicated to the discovery and development of novel effective, safe medicines. We are seeking a motivated bioanalytical scientist who will contribute to understanding of the absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion (ADME) and pharmacokinetic properties of therapeutic drug candidates (protein therapeutics and small molecules) to achieve their full pharmacological potential. PKDM works in close partnership with disciplines such as protein sciences, medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, toxicology, pharmaceutical sciences, clinical pharmacology and regulatory to design promising clinical therapeutic candidates, conduct preclinical development studies, support clinical evaluation and contribute to IND and NDA filings.
Responsibilities:
Use cutting edge LC-MS/MS platforms, provide small molecule bioanalytical support for PK, PD, and TK studies, as well as, discovery biomarker support.
As a key member in the core mass spec group, actively contribute to LC-MS based bioanalytical support of therapeutic proteins, peptides and other molecule types.
Profile and characterization of potential catabolites/metabolites of therapeutic molecules in both in vitro and in vivo samples use different mass spec technologies and biochemical tools, e.g. intact protein analysis, selective digestion, peptide mapping, western blot, SDS PAGE.
Actively contribute to evaluation and implementation of new technologies that will improve and expand application of mass spec technologies to facilitate better understanding of small and large molecule ADME and PK properties.
Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree

Bachelor's degree & 6 years of scientific experience
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in analytical chemistry, bioanalytical chemistry, or equivalent and 2+ years of industrial experience
MS in analytical chemistry, bioanalytical chemistry, or equivalent and 10+ years of industrial experience
Demonstration of critical thinking and independent problem solving skills
Solid hands on experiences with different mass spectrometry methodologies for quantitative analysis of small molecules
Hands on experiences with different mass spectrometry methodologies for qualitative and quantitative analysis of protein, peptides, nucleotides
Strong instrumentation skills on current LC-MS platforms
Proficient with current bioanalytical software tools, Analyst, Xcalibur, Skyline, Pepfinder, etc.
Hands on experience with lab LIMS systems, e.g. WATSON
Experience with typical biochemistry and pathological techniques, e.g. western blot, SDS-PAGE, IHC
