JOB SUMMARY
The Security Specialist administers physical security programs including facility security risk assessments, access, alarm monitoring and CCTV systems and assists in providing security related training in a manner consistent with Charter policies, procedures, quality standards, customer needs and applicable local, state and federal regulations.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Facility Security Risk Assessments
oCompletes facility security risk assessments for assigned division sites annually
oConducts periodic revisits to sites for improved security
oDocuments all assessments in a timely manner with complete accuracy
oPrepares and presents to management and or others all assessment findings
oCommunicates security recommendations to appropriate departments
oPartners with Facilities Department for latest facilities updates
Security Access Systems
oContinually evaluates, determines and presents strategic division site needs
oDevelops comprehensive system installation project plans including materials required (based on appropriate requirements), costs, timelines, ROI)
oRegularly uses system tools to ensure operating effectiveness and efficiency
oResponds to system technical issues and repairs or schedules repairs timely
oMeets regularly with department management for system updates
oCompletes other system tasks as required
Security CCTV Systems
oContinually evaluates, determines and presents strategic division site needs
oDevelops comprehensive system installation project plans including materials required (based on appropriate requirements, costs, timelines, ROI)
oRegularly views systems for camera clarity and placement and recording efficiency to ensure operating effectiveness
oResponds to system technical issues and repairs or schedules repairs timely
oMeets regularly with department management for system updates
oCompletes other system tasks as required
Security Alarm Monitoring Systems
oWorks with Security Coordinators to continually evaluate and determine strategic division site needs
oProvides in-field support to Security Coordinator and department for alarm monitoring onsite needs (projects, system issues)
oCompletes system alarm testing annually
oCompletes system panic alarm testing annually (in applicable sites)
oCompletes other system tasks as required

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
o Strong technical background, experience with physical security equipment and systems
  • Experience in installing, configuring, and set up of cameras, and access control systems
  • Experience in troubleshooting outages, and performing system and equipment and system upgrades as needed

Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
oUnderstanding of Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word
oMust have effective communication skills both in writing and verbal (position requires significant interface with all levels of internal and external customers)
oMust possess or be able to acquire a valid driver’s license and comply with Charter’s vehicle operations policy
oMust be able and willing to take initiative and handle various tasks simultaneously while working efficiently, effectively, and independently under minimal supervision
oMust be able to multi-task overseeing several projects
Must be adaptable and flexible and able to work collaboratively across multiple stakeholders and client groups
oAble to be neat with self and conduct self in a respectable, responsible, courteous manner
oProjects a cooperative and positive attitude toward customers, employees, and the company, maintaining a professional attitude when dealing with difficult situations
oAbility to work hours outside normal scheduled shift with minimal notice required
oAbility to keep yourself and your team safe while on the job.
oKeep the facilities safe and leave it clean when the installation/repair is complete
oTest systems to ensure they work properly and all connections are established.
oUse technical skills to read blueprints and schematic wiring diagrams and follow installation guidelines.
oAbility to differentiate between different sizes and colors of wires
oAbility to make cable connections in tight spaces by bending, reaching, twisting
oAbility to travel (including during inclement weather) to and from assigned territories and company facilities

Education
oHigh school diploma or equivalent and minimum of two years related experience

Related Work Experience
oAccess, Alarm, CCTV system experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
oUnderstanding of Microsoft Access, Project, Visio (preferred – must be willing to learn)

Related Work Experience
oCATV experience
oTechnical training in related field
oAssociates Degree in related field

WORKING CONDITIONS
oAble to climb ladders
oMust be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift and perform repetitive motions
oPhysically able to work in adverse weather conditions and able to enter confined spaces such as attics and crawl spaces, if required
oEfficiently grasp/use hand tools including drills, crimpers, wrenches, etc.
oAble to climb ladders and work up to 28’ aloft
oAble to physically handle a 28’ – 80 lb extension ladder
