Senior Accountant

Job Location: United States : New Jersey : Bridgewater  



Performs a variety of financial studies to analyze and report interrelationships of financial information.  Determines validity of data and provides supporting explanations of conclusions reached.  Use data to project future short- and long-term scenarios and anticipated results.  May support financial analysis/reporting and the integrity of financial data by developing the financial systems infrastructure, establishing controlled financial transaction processing through administrative systems, or providing technical support in the production of reports/analyses. 



  • Complete analysis and reporting for various Group Benefit products.
  • Analyze and explain actual vs. projection variances by product.
  • Perform GAAP and STAT line by line financial statement changes.
  • Complete GAAP to STAT UW differences.
  • Correspond with auditors on questions that arise.
  • Prepare journal entries by product.
  • Communicate Group Benefit product level earnings to manager.
  • Complete GAAP & STAT balance sheet certifications.
  • Perform line by line financial statement trend analysis.
  • Partner with various units across the enterprise to ensure accuracy of financial statements.
  • Complete government reporting and analysis.
  • Complete Ad Hoc projects.
  • Document existing processes and procedures for various Group products.
  • Review QFS Rollforward
  • Prepare STAT Bridge file for manager review.
  • System skills required – Proficient in HFM, SmartView Retrieve, ESSBASE, Microsoft Excel


  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting, or equivalent work experience.  
  • A minimum of 5 years of financial experience in a public or private company environment; insurance industry experience preferred. 
  • Completion of or progress towards CPA or MBA preferred. 
  • Experience working with GAAP and STAT reporting.
  • Self-starter who can independently produce quality results.
  • Working knowledge of accounting concepts, principles, and practice.
