This position will be instrumental to MetLife’s management of retail deferred annuities.  The current Statutory Reserving (AG43) and RBC (C3P2) framework for variable annuities is in the process of a major overhaul.  MetLife is a participating company in the NAIC Quantitative Impact Study (QIS2) reviewing the results of proposed NAIC regulatory changes and providing feedback before finalization.  The incumbent will model proposals as stipulated in the study, analyze results, provide feedback on the QIS2 and keep MetLife management informed of the study’s progress.  Once new reserve and capital standards are finalized the incumbent will be involved in implementing the required changes.  The position will also involve statutory financial reporting, sensitivity testing, designing new analytics and metrics to manage the inforce business and other model modernization and updates.



  • Modelling proposed reserve and capital calculations for variable annuities as part of QIS2.
  • Review and validate model results.
  • Organize internal discussions with colleagues and senior management.
  • Provide summarized QIS2 results to the NAIC consultant.
  • Participate in industry calls related to the QIS2.
  • Implementation of proposed framework when finalized.
  • Design new reserve and capital analytics.
  • Streamline current processes.
  • Be engaged in routine financial reporting and sensitivity testing of reserves and capital.
  • Respond to audit requests from internal and external auditors.
  • Model development, modernization and validation.


  • FSA or near FSA.
  • 7+ years of actuarial experience specifically in Modeling and Valuation.
  • Financial Reporting, AG43, and RBC C3P2 experience is preferred.
  • Variable Annuity experience a big plus.
  • Excellent technical and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication.
  • Self-starter, results-driven, customer-focused and strong team player.
  • Ability to work with others across diverse professional backgrounds and geographical locations in a team environment.
  • Ability to grasp new concepts quickly.
