Eaton’s Industrial Aerospace Division is seeking a Senior Aerospace Product Design Engineer. The Senior Aerospace Product Design Engineer will be based in Beltsville, MD.
 
Positon Overview:
The Senior Aerospace Product Design Engineer will be responsible for serving as a new product development engineer in the high pressure and low pressure ducting product lines for fuel and pneumatic aircraft systems. The role requires application of sound engineering principles, practical problem solving, and use of Eaton engineering tools (e.g. PROLaunch/Prelaunch/ACES) in an organized and timely manner. The roll will require adherence to engineering processes, and collaboration with engineers local to and remote from Beltsville, MD. The engineer will be responsible for milestone achievement on led projects and drive milestone achievement on supported projects. Projects may include iR&D, new product development, VA/VE engineering, sustaining engineering, and new business campaign support.
 
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Leads/Supports development of new products from concept level, through validation and qualification for aircraft applications, following applicable regulatory and industry standards, PROLaunch and ACES processes.
  • Coordinates responses to sustaining engineering issues, developing timely, cost effective solutions to product life cycle objectives or problems.
  • Guides the development of product concepts, leads or supports innovation events, Prelaunch, and iR&D activities.
  • Generates and reviews engineering inputs to customer proposals, creating solutions and estimating materials, testing costs and Engineering labor.
  • Generates and reviews mechanical design and dimensional analyses. Reviews structural, thermal, dynamic, and performance analysis for design validation. Interfaces effectively with applicable internal resources to accomplish complete product analysis.
  • Authors and reviews test procedures and setups for development, acceptance, and qualification testing are acceptable.
  • Drives failure analysis examinations and Failure Analysis Reports of test findings and field issues.
  • Is recognized/sought out for their technical expertise – as well as proficiency in advanced problem solving techniques. (Ex.: Teach "how" to use the core tools, endorsing best practices.)
  • Uses project management tools and methods and recognized/sought out for project management expertise.
  • Communicates effectively internationally and at all organizational levels. Supports marketing and sales teams with technical presentations on the front end side. Demonstrates leadership behavior through successful consulting, auditing, coaching, and mentoring. 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience required.
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within the immediate geographical area of 50 miles of Beltsville, MD will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Certifications: Lean 6-sigma methods preferred, including Design for Six Sigma (DFSS/SSDD) Green Belt or Black Belt, or Project Management Professional Certification
  • 5 years of experience in product engineering
  • 3 years of experience in mechanical design of sealed conveyance components or systems for aircraft (tubes, ducting, rigid and flexible joints and couplers, flanges)
  • Engineer who has taken a product from concept to production as well as being involved in the launch
