  • Serves as subject matter expert for administration and compliance issues for Benefits programs
  • Oversees multiple Benefits implementations and programs including financials and analytics, operations and administration, compliance, communications and process improvements
  • Manages vendor relationships to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant delivery of Benefits programs
  • Interfaces with IT and third parties to ensure data flow for plan administration is accurate and timely
  • Monitors service level agreements and resolves customer service/ delivery issues timely and efficiently
  • Ensures programs are administered in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Works with other benefit team members to ensure all benefit programs are aligned
  • Acts as a technical resource on benefit issues, including appeals, while maintaining employee confidentiality
  • Responsible for implementation and process development of new programs, changes to existing programs and annual enrollment.  Serves as team lead on assigned projects.
  • Assists in identifying, planning, and developing methods and procedures to obtain greater benefit plan efficiency
  • Prepares employee communications materials related to programs being managed
  • Acts as project manager for major benefit projects (i.e. plan analysis projects, program and system implementations and upgrades)

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree required or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years managing large corporate health plans preferred
  • Minimum 4 years benefits plan experience required, 7-10 years preferred
  • Prior experience with self-insured plans
  • Strong knowledge of benefits terminology, plan design, claims resolution, and compliance
  • Strong understanding of COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA and other federal/state regulations related to benefits
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to understand, analyze and explain benefit plan provisions and related costs
  • Ability to understand benefit contract language and evaluate proposals (RFP’s)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects from concept to implementation
  • Excellent time/project management and organizational skills; ability to effectively and successfully complete multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated initiative and sense of urgency in finding ways to resourcefully overcome challenges
  • Self-starter with effective team work, influencing, conflict management, and negotiation skills
  • Highly effective oral and written communication skills
