The Gene Therapy Translational Sciences group located in Cambridge, MA is part of Pfizer's Rare Disease Research Unit (RDRU) with a focus on gene therapy specific platform technologies towards the delivery of IND-approved vectors for testing in clinical trials. This bench Sr. Associate Scientist will be part of an interdisciplinary team and contribute to preclinical data required to advance Pfizer's gene therapy-based portfolio. This particular role will have a strong focus on performing screening assays for the presence of the neutralizing antibodies to AAV capsid as well as other cell based assays in support of AAV vector characterization. Sr. Assoc. Sci will make significant technical contributions under moderate supervision by using established methodologies. Sr. Assoc. Sci will be encouraged to reduce to practice novel technical approaches. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Perform cell based assays aimed at characterization of AAV gene therapy vectors, including RC AAV, TCID50, potency and other assays. Produce small scale research vector preps with the oversight of the more senior scientist. Execute experiments, analyze and interpret data, deliver high-value data reports to Gene Therapy projects in the RDRU pipeline. Perform neutralizing antibody assays on human and animal serum samples. Partner with RDRU biology group and other disciplines of integrated drug discovery and development, especially pharmacokinetics and drug disposition, to help prepare translational preclinical packages for gene therapy clinical candidates. Support aspects of internal and external collaborations and contracted projects. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree in the life sciences with 2-4 years of academic or industry research experience or Master's Degree in the life sciences with 0-2 years of academic or industry research experience. Scientific background in biology, molecular biology, or cell biology Experience with cell based assays is required. Experience with AAV vectors is required Experience with cell banking is highly desired.
