This position will lead functions for configuration of the NYL Direct Insurance Operation and Underwriting workflows by providing programming changes for Accenture’s ALIP and RGA’s AURA tool, two proprietary software development workflow and rules engine tools.  Candidate will provide interactions between the partners for vendor support for all application intake, Underwriting workbench and rules engine.  Perform project management and quality assurance roles for work requests opened with the vendors including a detailed roll out plan.  They will take support enhancements on a regular cadence, and version updates as needed. 


  • Able to maintain, administer, troubleshoot, and code for business needs on the ALIP and AURA toolset or other toolsets as needed.
  • Ability to administer the user roles for the two software suites
  • Initiating and maintaining vendor relationships, including system requirements and requested enhancements.
  • Perform quality assurance and User Acceptance testing on all Operations and Underwriting Technical Services applications in the model environment.
  • Communicate with business sponsors to ensure enhancements and upgrades are completely understood before implementing changes.
  • Familiarity with the Change Request Management System (CRMS) and can represent Operations and Underwriting at the Change Review meetings.
  • Knowledgeable in JIRA to support weekly work and agile software development methodology.
  • Act as Product Manager/Owner for new business application intake, underwriting rules engine and underwriting workflow systems for interdepartmental collaboration.




  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or 10+ years experience
  • Model testing concepts, SQL Server Management Studio or related query language/tools, program management, Life Insurance terminology and concepts, and understanding Business Process Management (BPM)
  • Knowledgeable about Operation’s business practices and existing systems
  • Working directly with business partners and agile team to provide the best solutions to system issues and to maximize productivity
  • Experience with Microsoft tools
  • Knowledge of the various IOS businesses, systems and applications as well as Underwriting processes
  • Understanding the deployment process and the impact on business partners
  • Ability to make recommendations to agile teams based on value added ideas and concepts
  • Ability to prioritize enhancement requests based on business value
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency in an aggressive, multi-tasking environment
  • Ability to research and develop new technical workflows or troubleshoot production issues and make recommendations for the improvement of existing processes to improve efficiency and productivity
  • Maintain, administer and develop systems utilized by multiple departments (ie Claims, New Business, Premium Collections, and Underwriting) within NYL Direct
  • Perform quality assurance on development efforts being completed by other members of the Technical staff, to deliver the expected business value and coordinate UAT efforts with other business partners
  • Ability to lead meetings and maintain open communication as Project Manager on assigned technology solutions including technical writing
  • Participates in user story, development and test case creation on new stories, and demo to business
  • Provide status reports on current development or quality testing efforts
  • Work to provide consensus with project team on decisions impacting project scheduled and scope
  • Create reports and analyze results to provide insight to upper management for decision making
