Amgen is seeking a Senior Associate Technology Innovation at its main headquarters in Thousand Oaks, CA to join the Technology Innovation group of Strategy and Innovation. This position will report to the Corporate Development Director and will provide project management support for the external technology search and evaluation process. Moreover, this position will contribute analysis and project management support during the development of healthcare technology strategies for Amgen's major therapeutic franchises.
Technology Innovation is building a portfolio of healthcare technology solutions which support Amgen's therapeutic franchises and which utilize digital health, diagnostics, formulation, and drug delivery technologies.
Travel: Domestic travel up to 10% may be essential.
Logging and triaging inbound technology opportunities in the fields of mobile computing, data science, biometric monitoring (e.g. wearable technology), connected devices, formulation technology, diagnostics, and drug delivery devices
Coordinating the monthly technology evaluation meeting using Business Development processes and tools, including preparing opportunity summaries, compiling agendas and minutes, and presenting process flow metrics
Coordinating the monthly governance meeting where investment decisions are made including preparing agendas and minutes and presenting process flow metrics
Collaborating with the regional Digital Health Prospectors to develop technology landscape analyses which provide insights to the organization regarding the "state of the art" of technology in our focus areas (digital health, drug delivery devices, formulations, and diagnostics)
Supporting Product Innovation Leads as they work with therapeutic franchise leadership to develop healthcare technology strategies around our products by organizing workshops, interviewing stakeholders, performing secondary research, and synthesizing and presenting research findings to senior executives
The role is a mix of strategic operations, business development, and strategy. Career development in all three areas is possible and dependent upon interest, aptitude, and business need.
OR Bachelor's degree and 2 years of business development, strategy, or technology experience
OR Associate's degree and 6 years of business development, strategy, or technology experience
OR High school diploma/GED and 8 years of business development, strategy, or technology experience
Master's or doctorate degree in a relevant technology discipline or business and 2 years of professional experience in a corporate environment;
Professional experience in R&D, business development, or strategy of a pharmaceutical company or experience in a digital health company, payer organization, or healthcare delivery organization (e.g. hospital, integrated delivery network, etc.)
Strong scientific, organizational, communication, and project management skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Professional demeanor and excellent presentation and communication skills pertaining to science, technology, and business strategy
Collaborative with the ability to both participate in and lead cross functional teams
Ability to independently identify problems and proactively solve them
