The Senior Compliance Associate within the Compliance Risk Management (CRM) Team is responsible for ensuring quality and consistency within MetLife’s global CRM Program that serves to protect against the imposition of fines as well as guard against sanctions or reprimands which would cause negative financial impact and/or publicity toward the MetLife enterprise.  The Senior Compliance Associate supports the Corporate Ethics and Compliance (CEC) monitoring and testing program on a global basis to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, which serves to mitigate risk to the MetLife enterprise.  Specifically, this associate analyzes compliance risks and related assessments within the Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) System, and identifies opportunities to strengthen and streamline business oversight activities. He/she proposes enhanced controls and monitoring and testing activities, ensures the timely resolution of issues, and escalates heightened risk via scorecards and reporting tools. He/she also creates and delivers training programs to support Corporate Ethics and Compliance (CEC) and business unit partners in implementing effective risk management strategies. This incumbent must possess a risk/control mind-set sufficient to independently formulate and execute CRM Program policies which are based on industry standards and best practices.





  • Leads projects to identify, assess, and address emerging compliance risks and CRM Program gaps.  
  • Verifies the efficacy of control frameworks and associated monitoring and testing activities.
  • Evaluates the content and quality of risk assessments to ensure adherence to CRM Program standards.
  • Ensures the timely and effective resolution of compliance issues and action plans.
  • Researches laws and regulations that affect business operations; validates that associated risks are prioritized in the CRM Program.
  • Assists with defining Governance, Risk and Compliance system requirements to support the CRM Program.   
  • Creates dashboard tools and reporting mechanisms to support meaningful risk reporting and analysis by senior leadership. Compiles reports of findings for CEC management and where feasible, proposes remediation steps.
  • Develops training programs and resources to address audit/regulatory issues and common areas of misunderstanding.
  • Serves a liaison to MetLife’s Internal Audit Department and other internal control partners.
  • Researches best practices in compliance risk oversight. Participates in initiatives related to advancing the vision and strategy of the CRM Program.
  • Assists in the coordination of responses to regulatory inquiries and exams.




  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 5+ years’ prior experience in an audit function, with an emphasis on financial services.
  • Advanced understanding of risk management principles and auditing processes, including effective control design and testing and sampling methodologies. 
  • Understanding of issue identification and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Knowledge of MetLife’s strategy, operations, products, and services in multiple distribution channels.
  • Understanding of the key regulatory and compliance risk areas for MetLife, including laws and regulations impacting various regions/lines of business. Knowledge of Federal Reserve Board requirements and expectations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word and Excel).
  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, including the ability to adapt to, interact with, and deliver effective presentations to, audiences at various levels.
  • Strong writing skills, with the ability to synthesize information from multiple sources and draft clear and succinct communications.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, with a demonstrated track record of managing global programs and projects with competing deadlines.
  • Extraordinary attention to detail with a commitment to high-quality deliverables.
  • Ability to build constructive relationships and negotiate effectively.  
  • Ability to garner resources and prioritize multiple requests in a dynamic environment.
