Global Strategy is charged with advancing the development and evaluation of MetLife's corporate strategies. The group will advise the Executive Group, MetLife’s top executive officers, on matters of corporate strategy and will function as an in-house strategic consulting group, responsible for assisting MetLife in creating, communicating and sustaining its strategy.  Global Strategy will work closely with the business unit strategy leaders globally to ensure consistency and alignment between our corporate and business strategies.


  • Work independently to partner with global business leaders, regional management and local teams to scope, define and coordinate initiatives in support of business strategy.
  • Develop and refine performance measures and internal/external benchmarks to develop an information framework to support business outcomes. 
  • Create communications related to strategic business plans and initiatives.
  • Provide oversight to assigned projects and leverages research using a variety of tools such as internet searches for packaging information on MetLife’s competitors, customer date and industry trends that shape the global insurance and financial services marketplace. 
  • Collect key metrics from various sources and uses management analysis tools, to complete complex analyses such as cost projections, feasibility studies, benchmark comparisons, and other reports. Develops recommendations for senior management review.
  • Develop complex financial and investment models and participates in preparing ROI analysis as necessary for senior management.
  • May coordinate complex or highly visible events; oversee high priority projects which require considerable resources and high levels of functional integration; interface with all areas affected by projects including end users, distributors and vendors and ensure adherence to quality standards and review project deliverables.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.


  • MBA from a top ranked institution
  • One or more years of post-MBA experience at a top tier consulting firm or in a strategic planning function at a Fortune 500 firm
  • Demonstrated distinctive problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Must possess business maturity, strong presence, and advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Prior experience in projects that require detailed execution. Strategic thinker with strong execution capabilities.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to engage across multiple functions and business units.
  • A self-starter, with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Prior insurance or retail financial services experience is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Ability to manage consensus at various levels and cultivate strategic internal relationships across a highly matrixed organization.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate without formal direct authority, consultative in approach; diplomatic.
  • Organized and detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally
  • Flexibility to accommodate working across global time zones.
  • Foreign language skills a positive
  • No direct supervisory responsibilities.
