Senior Copywriter

Capital One Spark Business is seeking a Copywriter to join our Brand Creative Team. We support a variety of customer segments and products within varied digital and traditional channels, so this position will have a significant influence on delivering key marketing, product and services messaging in our Capital One Brand voice & personality within the broader marketing & product teams.

A little bit about the role…

This Copywriter will support Capital One Spark Business, the small business banking line of business within Capital One (yeah, the “What’s in Your Wallet” brand). We are seeking an enthusiastic creative copywriter who is up for the task of taking a number of complex banking & financial product marketing copy needs and crafting engaging, well-conceived written copy in our brand voice for multiple digital & print channels. Additionally, this person will support our broader marketing & product strategy initiative by helping explain complex banking principles in a simple, clear, approachable customer-friendly fashion. The Copywriter will be the right hand of the Creative Director. This position will be the voice of the creative team when the Creative Director isn’t available. Knowledge of the business goals and relationship management will be crucial in this role – must be ready to listen and collaborate.  We’re looking for a conceptual and strategic problem solver, who works well in a team of “big thinkers”. We want someone who is also comfortable with collaboration as well as co-leading creative work-streams and campaigns.

  • The ability to handle multiple projects at once and meet aggressive deadlines.
  • You understand the benefits of process and you use it to your advantage.
  • Interest and skills spanning design, video and development as well.
  • Attention to details - checks for product, consistency, brand standards adherence, etc.
  •  Portfolio should include produced work for integrated marketing campaigns and/or product/technical copywriting.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience.
  • At least 6 years of copywriting experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience managing a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience working in an advertising agency or 4 years of experience working with a corporate in-house creative team.
  • At least 3 years of experience working directly in the banking/financial industry.
  • Active FINRA Series 7 License, or expired FINRA Series 7 License.
  • Active FINRA Series 66 License, or expired FINRA Series 66 License.
