Senior Data Cloud Taxonomist

We are looking for a smart, passionate person to join Oracle's Data Cloud taxonomy team. The ideal candidate will enjoy digging into large systems with complex business logic, using the knowledge they gain and their keen attention to detail to build, evolve, and maintain taxonomies that operate at web scale.

At the heart of Oracle's BlueKai Marketplace and Data Management Platform (DMP) products sits the taxonomy team, a group of information professionals who work with internal and external clients to build custom taxonomies that support digital marketing use cases. Our mission is to make data easy for customers to find, understand, use, and buy. We do this with taxonomies that capture anonymous web behavior, plus a full spectrum of offline demographic, purchase, and interest attributes. These taxonomies ARE the foundation upon which our platform's audience targeting, discovery, and analytics products are built.

Responsibilities
    Consult with internal and external stakeholders to develop custom taxonomies that support business goals while remaining faithful to underlying data structures Identify and troubleshoot data quality problems with internal reports and browser-based validation tools like HTTPFox, Chrome Developer Tools, and Firebug Conduct trainings, deliver presentations, and lead meetings with clients and partners Collaborate with client service teams to provide customer-specific solutions and ongoing support Curate rules that aggregate data from hundreds of providers for classification into the BlueKai Marketplace Initiate and execute projects to improve internal tools, processes, documentation, and data quality Travel to client sites and other offices up to 10% of the time

Required Qualifications
    Experience with data classification, taxonomy building, and/or metadata schemas Meticulous attention to detail, a results-oriented mentality, and a figure-it-out-and-get-it-done attitude Ability to exercise good judgment while operating independently in ambiguous circumstances and driving multiple projects to completion Ability to master new tools and systems quickly, and to respond nimbly when conditions and priorities change Comfortable speaking in public and communicating complex content to C-level executives, marketers, developers, engineers, analysts, and ad agencies Experience working cross-functionally with client support, business development, software engineering, and sales teams, as well external clients Bachelor's degree and 5 years professional experience
Desired Qualifications
    Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Math, Informatics, a natural sciences discipline, or Philosophy with an emphasis on logic Master's degree in Library and Information Science or Linguistics, or equivalent professional experience Fluency in Japanese, Spanish, French, Portuguese, or German Proficiency in SQL and/or Python Working knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, and internet technologies (e.g., cookies, browsers) a plus AdTech, digital marketing, and/or analytics experience a plus

Qualifications:
Assists with analyzing complex business problems to be solved with automated systems.

As part of a software project implementation team, provides technical expertise in identifying, evaluating and developing systems and procedures that are cost effective and meet user needs. Configures system settings and options; plans and executes unit, integration and acceptance testing; and creates specifications for systems to meet business specifications. Designs details of automated systems. May provide consultation to users in the area of automated systems. May lead cross-functional linked teams to address business or systems issues.

Job duties are varied and complex; independent judgment needed. May have project lead role. Prefer 5 years relevant experience and BA/BS degree.
