The Consumer Analytics team at LinkedIn works in close partnership with the Product team to identify opportunities to develop and enhance products and features that connect our Members with greater professional opportunity. We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our team in developing innovative new technologies,features and products that will help further our mission of connecting the world's professionals. You will be responsible for informing strategy and decisions as well as building, measuring, understanding and improving products. Ultimately, you will develop data-driven product solutions that will add value to our customers and improve the professional lives of our members.
As a data scientist on the Consumer Analytics team you gain exposure to product managers, engineers, engineering managers, designers, business operations, marketing, and our data infrastructure team - these interactions are a very exciting part of the role as you gain insight into how others work, while providing data to drive their decisions and understanding of our members, products, and business.
The Network Growth product team focuses on exploiting the viral growth engine in the growth ecosystem which is centered around helping member grow their network. As a data scientist, you will partner with the team to measure, understand, and improve the user experience via data, recommendations, and product strategy. You will also conduct analysis and research on LinkedIn's social network to drive product insights and research findings.
Extract and analyze LinkedIn data to derive actionable insights Formulate success metrics, socializing them and creating dashboards/reports to monitor them Design and analyze experiments to test new product ideas and convert the results into actionable product recommendations As an end consumer of the data, determine the tracking necessary to enable analytics of our products and features by working closely with product and engineering partners Enable others in the organization to utilize your work by onboarding new metrics into our self-serve data system and the experimentation platform Develop models and data-driven solutions that add material lift to principal performance metrics Conduct social network analysis and research to understand the dynamics of LinkedIn's network to drive product insights and research findings
MS/PhD degree in a quantitative discipline: statistics, applied mathematics, operations research, computer science, engineering, economics, etc. 2+ years work experience programming in Java, C/C++, Python, or equivalent Experience working in a Unix/Linux environment for automating processes with shell scripting
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in social network analysis and research Experience in Hadoop or other MapReduce paradigms and associated languages such as Pig, Sawzall, etc. 2+ years' industry experience, ideally at a consumer web or internet based company, working with large amounts of real data 5+ years work experience programming in Java, C/C++, or Python Ability to translate business objectives into actionable analyses. Ability to communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences Experience presenting insights to executive staff on a regular basis
