Data Scientists on our team partner with product managers, engineers, and others to identify opportunities to develop and enhance products and features that connect our members with greater professional opportunity. We are looking for a strong, enthusiastic data scientist to join the team focusing on LinkedIn Search & Discovery products. With more than 10 billion professionally-oriented searches performed on LinkedIn every year, our Search team relies heavily on insights gained from data to guide feature development and metrics to detect improvements in experiments. The insights and metrics that our team provides point the Search team in the right direction and enable them to iterate quickly.
Responsibilities: Inform product strategy, influence the product roadmap, and guide product decisions by: Accessing and analyzing the world's richest professional data to generate insights and make proactive recommendations. Formulating success metrics for search quality and search experience, onboarding them to our self-serve data system and experimentation platform. Designing and analyzing experiments to test new ideas for improving LinkedIn search. Developing data-driven solutions that add material lift to search relevance and experience.
Basic Qualifications: Degree in a quantitative discipline: statistics, applied mathematics, operations research, computer science, engineering, economics, or equivalent Experience with at least one scripting language such as Java, Python, C/C++ Experience working in a Unix/Linux environment
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge and working experience in search 2+ years' industry experience, ideally with consumer Web products, working with large amounts of real data Experience in Hadoop or other MapReduce paradigms and associated languages such as Pig, Hive, Presto, Spark, Sawzall, etc Experience presenting insights to executive staff on a regular basis Expertise in applied statistics, especially around regression models and experiment design Ability to translate business objectives into actionable analyses Ability to communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
