The DB2/LUW Database Administrator will be responsible for the end-to-end implementation of the DB2/LUW database systems.  The DBA will be responsible for the build and testing of new database environments and the enhancement, administration, backup and implementation support for 10.1 and 10.5 database systems on AIX and RedHat Linux.


  • Physical database design for all new development efforts for the supported application portfolio
  • Performance and tuning of application developed SQL and procedures
  • Implementation of all utility processing for supported databases
  • Creation and management of the database maintenance processes and jobs (such as backups, weekly DBA maintenance trails, statistics, reorgs, recovery, DR).
  • Implementation of application driven schema changes


  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Experience in the creation and configuration of new Unix and Linux database server environments and creation of new 10.5 database environments; Technical knowledge and experience with database environments, tools, utilities, configurations,  backup and recovery,  job scheduling, release management, change management and compliance.
  • Management of  database elements, including creation, alteration, deletion and copying of schemas, databases, tables, views, indexes, stored procedures, triggers and declarative integrity constraints.
  • Knowledge of all key DB2/LUW utilities such as HADR, Reorg, Runstats, Load
  • Strong collaboration with application development teams on database security, query optimization and performance.
  • Document database maintenance processing flows per standards.
  • SQL & Perl, Korn and other scripting skills are a plus; Spanish language skills a plus
  • High school diploma or equivalent
