The Senior Director of Marketing Beauty GFO – Global Body, Aveeno, LPM and Johnsons Adult is a key strategic leadership role within the Global Franchise Organization (GFO). This position reports into Alicia Sontag, President of Global Beauty GFO, and sits in New Brunswick, NJ. 


The role leads the body need state (all upstream technologies, consumer insight work, business development initiatives, etc). In addition, the role is accountable for the global strategy, market expansion, new product innovation, integrated communication campaigns, and performance of the brands that are most heavily weighted in the body category – namely Aveeno, Le Petit Marseilles, and Johnsons Adult.  The role has 4 direct reports, a team of roughly 15+ individuals, and leads via a matrix structure dedicated cross functional teams in areas such as R+D, GSI, etc.


Body Care is a $50B+ category globally and growing.  J&J is the #6 body player globally and is outpacing industry growth, with a goal to capture the #3 position within the strategic plan time horizon.  This position will lead the strategy, plans and programs to achieve this growth potential for J&J Consumer.  Key opportunity areas include developing insight-driven robust and disruptive global pipelines, leveraging innovation across different chassis and brands, and addressing white space opportunities. The role is also responsible for leading key strategic projects throughout the year, partnering with business development on significant inorganic opportunities, and partnering with Finance and GSI/Analytics to ensure the team is tracking against key internal metrics and focused on relevant external insight and analytics.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Map insights and future trends that inform portfolio opportunities
  • Assess each brand’s unique space to occupy in the Need State and how brands can cumulatively maximize share of the Need State
  • Partner w/ R&D to assess and drive upstream technologies (internal and external)
  • Drive platform strategies across brands within need state
  • Identify and action whitespace opportunities within need state
 

The role is responsible for driving global strategy, market expansion, new product innovation, integrated communication campaigns, and performance of the brands that are most heavily weighted in the body category – namely Aveeno, Le Petit Marseilles, and Johnsons Adult. These brands represent a significant portion of the total global beauty business, as well as a significant portion of the global growth projections for the strategic plan time horizon.

 
Specific responsibilities include:
  • Develop 8 Year Strategic Plan for each brand.
  • Partnering with regions to develop global market expansion strategies for all 3 brands (i.e., timing of new brand launches into new markets, new launch toolkits, and specific launch activations for each market).
  • Developing global pipeline for each brand across breakthrough, platform, and incremental opportunities – ensuring sufficiency by brand, by year, by region.
  • Develop compelling communication campaigns that can be leveraged globally / cross region, in conjunction with locally or regionally created assets.
  • Drive performance per brand – in year and over the strat plan time horizon

Qualifications
  • BA required. MBA preferred
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in setting a vision and executing in a similar integrated brand leadership role within a consumer packaged goods organization, preferably with a breadth of functional and/or industry experience is required.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset is required.
  • Self starter – ability to work independently and independently solve problems is required.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills who can synthesize and make meaning of large quantities of information. . Ability to draw conclusions and form opinions based on complex and varying data and information is required.
  • Execution focused / able to make things happen in a matrixed environment is required.
  • Leadership capabilities – ability to inspire groups across functions to action. Executive presence is required.
  • Project management capabilities – ability to manage complex project workstreams across multiple dimensions is reqired.
  • Global experience – working and/or living in more than one region is required.
  • Beauty experience is highly preferred
  • This role requires 10% international travel.
