In WDG, people-not devices-are at the center of everything we do. Our tech moves beyond screens and pixels, creating a new reality aimed at bringing us closer together-whether that’s scientists ?meeting? on the surface of a virtual Mars or some yet undreamt-of possibility. To get there, we’re incorporating diverse groundbreaking technologies, from the revolutionary Holographic Processing Unit to computer vision, machine learning, human-computer interaction, and more. We’re a growing team of talented engineers and artists putting technology on a human path across all Windows devices, including Microsoft HoloLens, the Internet of Things, phones, tablets, desktops, and Xbox. We believe there has to be a better way. If you do too, we need you!

The team is looking for a Sr. Electrical Engineer to help build a flexible platform. A strong mix of technical breadth and depth will allow you to work cross-functionally with different disciplines to develop compelling innovative products. As with other team members, you’ll be expected to fully participate in the why, how and what we produce and connect the dots to customer benefits. We’re looking for the combination of technical versatility and competency, self-direction, initiative, comfort in an ambiguous environment, plays well with others on the team and is passionate about the end-user experience. If breaking new ground and solving tough unknowns which will touch the lives of millions of users is what gets you out of bed in the morning, we have unequalled and exciting challenges to offer. We want you to join our team, tasked with ideating and building an integrated hardware and software experience that will transform the way people interact with cloud-connected devices, agents, AI and services. Creating our transformational devices involves a close partnership with other teams. We are especially interested in candidates who can execute and iterate from concept through sustained production in the prototyping, engineering, test and validation of high-volume, consumer electronic or computing devices. A track record of innovation and engineering excellence in meeting customer needs and achieving cost targets, design and functional requirements, reliability and quality goals is required. A strong skill-set in engineering analysis, design validation, and problem solving are fundamentals for the job. The ability to manage complex projects and maintain design rigor against development timelines is mandatory, and your excellent communication skills allow you to work seamlessly with teams across various engineering functions, cultures, time zones and geographies.

Basic Qualifications:
•M.S. or B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent training, education and experience.
•Demonstrable analog/digital hardware analysis, design, debug skills.
•5+ years of experience in the conceptualization, design, test, validation, bring-up and manufacture of high-volume consumer electronic or computing devices.
•Deep and broad competency across a range of skills or demonstrated capacity to skill up rapidly in the design and packaging of computer and consumer devices comprised of mixed-signal PCBAs, DSPs, microprocessors, memory, cameras, displays, indicators, transducers, sensors, 802.11 and BT wireless networking components, antennas, audio components, electro-mechanical interface and interconnection systems.
•Curiosity and an irresistible draw to solve complex problems that don’t have clear signposts.
•Proficiency with typical laboratory equipment (scopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, etc.).
•Experience troubleshooting component and system level issues.

We prefer:
•Knowledge of signal integrity fundamentals.
•Understanding of validation, characterization, and manufacturing techniques for high volume consumer electronic devices.
•Schematic capture and high-speed multilayer PCB design, place, and route tool skills.
•Analog/digital simulation tool skills.
•Knowledge of transmission lines, cross-talk, de-coupling, low-power power supply design.
•Willingness to integrate with internal and external cross- functional teams including manufacturing, test, reliability, quality, ID, and compliance.
•Ability to plan for design requirements to include electro-mechanical performance, thermal management, electrical robustness and longevity in the face of corrosion, shock, vibration, heat, humidity, and other mechanisms of performance degradation and aging.
•Demonstrable working knowledge in the proper design of products and best practices to meet regulatory and compliance agency requirements (UL, CE, FCC, RoHS). We work in a culture where all our team members value: Innovation: trying new things, leading the way, learning by doing

Inclusiveness: making others great, listening to multiple points of view, working as a team
Energy: having fun, following your passion, and making things happen
Creativity: fostering curiosity, playing with solutions
Customer experience: creating the best Holographic platform experience in the world

Responsibilities:
•Collaborate with other project teams to imagine scenarios, proto-type and develop platform components, tools and SDK features.
•Design, implement and own platform components and or tools to enable internal and external developers and ultimately, end users.
•Partner with architects and other technical drivers to deliver solid technical designs.
•Work in close partnership with a team of cross discipline peers including design, hardware, and PM to develop new markets and build for long term success.
•Maintain a focus on enabling customer and developer end user scenarios.
