Senior Engineer - Bare Metal Cloud Platform Team

Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure team is building new Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) technologies that operate at high scale in a broadly distributed multi-tenant cloud environment. Our customers run their businesses on our cloud, and our mission is to provide them with best in class compute, storage, networking, database, and security.

Oracle's Bare Metal Cloud Platform team is building a set of highly available and scalable platform, features and services offered by Oracle Public Cloud (OPC). There is a high level of integration required with other platform team services and features

You are a talented engineer at the individual contributor level. Want to build great cloud infrastructure technology in a vibrant, smart, high energy team? We are looking for a Senior Engineer with experience to join our development team. The ideal candidate will be technically strong and have an understanding of large-scale distributed systems (cloud-based environments). In addition, you will have some experience of taking a new major feature from start to release. We are looking for an excellent technical contributor to our team.

As a Senior Engineer you will be responsible for ensuring that our cloud infrastructure solutions are designed and built with the highest level of scalability in mind. You will partner with others in our development team to implement solutions within a distributed computing environment. You will collaborate with others on the team to ensure systems under development are aligned with other systems our team is responsible for including security, identity, metrics, and others and assist in the deployment of distributed systems. You will assist in supporting operations for the systems that our team owns.

You are part of the development team you will contribute to the creation of the Bare Metal Cloud Platform feature set.

These are exciting times in our space - we are growing fast, still at an early stage, and working on ambitious new initiatives.
Qualifications
• 3 years engineering experience in a software development environment
• Development experience in C, C and/or Java as well as scripting languages
• Experience working in an agile developer team environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear, concise manner to all audiences
• Comfortable in a collaborative, agile development environment.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience developing service-oriented architectures and web services security solutions
• Understanding of object-oriented design and SDK development, specifically within a cloud environment
• Familiarity and understanding of distributed computing and cloud-based platforms.
• Understanding of cross-functional platform feature areas in cloud platforms.

Qualifications:
Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
