POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Senior Financial Analyst, Retail Distribution provides their respective Leader and Management Team with decision support by deploying  management reporting, future-focused analytics, predictive modeling capabilities, decision tools and problem-solving support to help drive successful execution of Individual Advisory Services (IAS) (and other products as capacity arises) strategies while supporting financial planning, budgeting and forecasting requirements

 

Embrace decision science and financial performance management tools to rapidly, efficiently and effectively help supported products drive profitable growth as well as support investment optimization 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
 

Drive financial results:

o Lead financial performance management for supported channels; aid in

   refining related strategies and investment decisions to increase return on risk,

   effectiveness and efficiency. 

o Provide FP&A (budgeting, planning, forecasting, analytics, reporting), as well

   as financial stewardship and counsel for partners.

o Develop models/tools for early identification of financial trends and drivers for

   use across business areas.

o Support TIAA’s internal reporting for the   IAS distribution team as well as

   TIAA’s enterprise digitization efforts

o Advocate for the business and develop and deliver influential communications

   to inspire action.

o Develop operational and financial health metrics and measures (leveraging

   both internal and outside-in perspectives).

Help Retail Finance build a sustainable powerhouse team:

o Partner to help evolve team’s (and team’s partners’) vision of success.

o Partner with peers to expand ability of team to deliver FP&A leadership.

o Help fuel a dynamic, learning, and enjoyable team atmosphere.

o Expand team’s depth chart; establish team reputation as source of promotion-

   ready, challenge-ready talent.

Drive continuous improvement:

o Aid in fostering alignment of enterprise and business partner area financial

   goals, processes, and policies.

o Support strong culture of partnership between business finance, enterprise

   and business areas.

o Incorporate productivity and process improvement methodologies to ensure

   long-term success.

Management/Leadership Responsibility: 

Lead via matrix / indirect relationship, manage projects. 

Lead financial performance management for multiple products supporting 

  senior managing directors.

Assist in the building of channel P&L’s

Ability to meet tight time schedules and manage monthly/quarterly/episodic

  finance deliverables.

Provide support for other Retail Finance initiatives; lead as able

Ability to manage direct staff as coverage area grows

Act as “quarterback” for key partners (e.g., Corporate Finance, peer Business

  Finance teams, Corporate Controller’s and others) to provide services,

  analysis, and help enterprise with covered area related FP&A.

Budget Responsibility:

 Support indirect management of 3 year budget ~$300+ million;

 Responsible for helping the IAS channel exceed >$20+B of Flows by 2020

Impact:

NATURE OF IMPACT - 

Financial, strategic,and operational impact on supported channel area results through ensuring success – as identified above; driving decisions to support profitable growth, and partnering on strategy –while identification of key trends and inspiring actions to optimize.

Problem Solving: 

Ability to identify local technical, organizational, adaptive, and regulatory challenges.  Ability to leverage and manage internal and external resources.

Functional Knowledge: 

Finance, accounting, financial services (insurance, brokerage, banking, finops/fintech), systems, data, modelling, and quantitative analysis.

Business or Industry Expertise: 

Retail financial services experience is essential; Expertise in retail financial service economics, , regulatory environments (banking, insurance, & brokerage), digital, direct to consumer, decision science, and operational environment.

Interactions / Interpersonal Skills: 

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills; track record suggesting inertia for rapid career progression.

 

 



QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Required Education: BA/BS

Preferred Education: Masters, MBA or MS Finance

Required Experience:  7-10 years

Required Licenses/Certifications:  CFA, CPA a plus
