The Senior Financial Analyst role is a member of the Corporate Expense Allocations Team which is part of the Expense Center of Excellence.  The primary responsibility of this role is to provide support to Corporate Service Providers (COH) and Lines of Business Operations (LOB) in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of US expense allocations processes as they are applicable to all reporting scenarios (Budget, Actual, and Forecast).

 

  • Review monthly allocation results for unallocated balances and perform research on identified anomalies
  • Develop and maintain financial models with multiple inputs from financial systems to calculate adhoc allocation prorate adjustments across all Legal Entitles and products
  • Document expense allocation processes, procedures and metrics utilizing LEAN methodology and tools
  • Utilize and build complex queries in PeopleSoft Americas to validate allocation prorates monthly
  • Prepare and communicate adhoc reporting and analysis on Allocation results
  • Train peer group on Allocation processes and procedures
  • Meet critical path deliverables during corporate close and budget/forecast processes
  • Verify statutory expense line allocation impacts required for US Bluebook reporting
  • Responsible for tracking close processes and monthly calendar deliverables as they affect allocations
  • Modify and develop new customer reference tools such as Allocation Reference File and Allocation Mapping File
  • Identify, Implement or strengthen internal controls in existing/new processes
  • Advanced user of Hyperion Planning, PeopleSoft, SharePoint, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Access
  • Maintain auditable supporting documentation for year end, internal/external audits and SOX compliance
  • Prepare and process general accounting entries for operating expenses

 

  • Works on more complex financial analyses assignments or projects
  • Prepares financial reports by downloading information from single or multiple sources, compiles databases and formulates spreadsheets
  • Conducts or coordinates research and/or special studies, models complex, future short & long term financial results, reconciles actual results against projections and explains variances
  • Interpret financial trends
  • May develop business requirements, approves specifications, documents procedures & processes, tests transactions, and assists in implementation as team leader/project manager or as a subject matter expert on cross functional IT/business teams developing financial systems or financial accounting transactions and controls within administrative systems

 

  • 5+ years total financial analysis in a public or private company environment 
  • Insurance industry, international reporting or transfer pricing experience a plus
  • BA/BS degree, preferably in Finance or Accounting, OR equivalent exp Completion of, or working towards CPA or MBA preferred
  • Demonstrated strong analytical, interpersonal, communications, prioritization & time management skills Knowledge of project management techniques
  • Strong proficiency with computer systems, PC’s and financial software applications (ie spreadsheets, financial modeling software) Strong knowledge of accounting concepts, principles and practices Ability to present and communicate financial data concisely and clearly with conclusions and recommendations in a manner that both financial & non-financial audiences can understand
