Job Summary: Performs a variety of financial studies to analyze and report interrelationships of financial information. Determines validity of data and provides supporting explanations of conclusions reached. Uses data to project future short- and long-term scenarios and anticipated results. May support financial analysis/reporting and the integrity of financial data by developing the financial systems infrastructure, establishing controlled financial transaction processing through administrative systems, or providing technical support in the production of reports/analyses.
Functional Responsibilities: Works on basic to more complex financial analyses assignments or projects. Prepares financial reports by downloading information from single or multiple sources, compiles databases and formulates spreadsheets. Conducts/ coordinates research and/or participates in special studies, models complex future short- and long-term financial results, reconciles actual results against projections, and explains variances. May interpret financial trends. May develop business requirements, approve specifications, document procedures and processes, test transactions, and assist in implementation as team leader/project manager or as a subject matter expert on cross-functional IT/business teams developing financial systems or financial accounting transactions and controls within administrative systems. Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None. May provide technical guidance to and assist junior staff members.
Typical Experience: Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting, or equivalent work experience. 5-8 yrs. financial experience in a public or private company environment; insurance industry experience preferred. Completion of or progress towards CPA or MBA preferred. Working knowledge of accounting concepts, principles, and practices.
