Air Products, a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Senior Human Resources Manager / Business Partner based in the West Region Headquarters in Phoenix, AZ Area. This position will be responsible for the HR Partnership, both strategic and tactical initiatives, along with day-to-day support of plants in our Industrial Gases Division located in WA, CA, UT, AZ that produce Oxygen, Nitrogen and Hydrogen . Employee base of approximately 400 employees includes management, engineering, skilled operations labor and driver fleets.
This position is part of the Americas Human Resources Industrial Gas Team and does not have any direct reports. Looking for professional for this position with a positive attitude who can drive results and act in an advisory capacity, making recommendations which have an important bearing on the conduct of the organization. As the HR Manager, will also need to be able to communicate with respect and honesty while upholding the highest ethical standards and coach managers in effective employee relations practices by assisting in building strong leadership skills and establishing best practices to include: Employee Engagement, Organizational Development, Performance Management, Talent Review and Succession Planning.
The Human Resources Manager will have overall accountability for developing and identifying responsive HR strategies to meet the needs of numerous facilities within Western US geography. This position will report directly to the West Region HR Manager and partner with the West Region General Manager to develop strategies to support achieving business objectives.
Proactively assesses risks to the business, provides guidance to clients and uses sound judgement to promptly resolve or escalate potential concerns.
This new position ensures effective and timely management of all HR issues and processes, with an emphasis on:
- Talent Management
- Employee relations
- Preventative labor relations
- Worker's compensation
- Talent Acquisition
This regional role will require approximately 50% travel within the region, including some overnight trips - including trips with short notice. QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources management or a related field; Master's degree preferred
- A minimum of 8 years hands-on experience as a Generalist, with heavy emphasis on employee relations preferably in a manufacturing setting
- Strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to act independently
- Must be able to build collaborative relationships with employees at all levels of the organization
- Comprehensive knowledge of HR laws and regulations
- Strong computer skills required; SAP or other HRIS experience a plus
- SPHR/PHR a plus
