TIAA’s Corporate Controller group is looking for a Sr. Investment Accountant for the Investment Reporting team.  The Investment Reporting team is responsible for data governance and controls as well as reporting and analytics for the Company’s general and separate accounts.  The primary function of this position is to support strategic initiatives, evolve governance practices and drive continuous improvements within the team for key stakeholders including senior management, external auditors and regulators.



o Provide oversight of data being validated and signed-off on by source systems.
o Lead implementation of new data sources into the IRW and enhancements to current data and functionality.
o Train/Develop new staff in using the OBIEE reporting tool and IRW.
o Lead training sessions for new users to the OBIEE tool and the IRW.
o Drive remediation of any system or process issues business partners may have or encounter with keeping the system operating smoothly.
o Perform root cause analysis of data issues, identify viable solutions working with IT and perform UAT testing to validate solutions prior to implementation into production.
o Utilize OBIEE to run/create queries, build dashboards, produce metrics reporting and perform investment analysis.
o Analyze business needs and document requirements for projects and future enhancements.  
o Develop process efficiencies and implement controls to mitigate the risk of bad data.
o Perform monthly validations of the investment data not sourced from accounting in the IRW to ensure the accuracy and completeness of data.
o Identify variances and analyze implications to reporting.
o Document procedures and assist in maintaining documentation for the Data Catalogs, critical business terms and data quality rules.
o Networks with colleagues and senior personnel in Finance and Actuarial, Risk Management, Asset Management and IT.



Required Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Information Technology

Advanced proficiency in Excel

Thorough analytical skills

Produces a work product that is clear, organized, accurate, and performed within often aggressive timelines

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)

Desired Skills

Previous financial services experience with a strong knowledge of capital markets and investments

Understands accounting principles and financial statements

Prior Statutory (SSAP) knowledge

Experience in OBIEE

CPA/MBA Preferred
